Apex STR-Rack Ladder Rack (Pickup Truck Steel Adjustable)

I bought this system because I didn't have to drill holes in the truck to install it. It turned out to be a good choice for the money. Pretty solid rack system. My first use was to carry 8 boards that were 2"x4"x16' treated lumber each weighing about 52 pounds. The rack system handled this with ease, but I could detect some susceptibility for this system to torque under heavy load. I easily tweaked the rack to make it rock solid.

Very good rack for the cost. Handles my canoe without issue. It takes about 10 minutes to put onto the truck after it has been assembled.

The shipment was missing a couple pieces the distributor sent quickly. Fulfilled by Amazon so not sure who goofed.Gave 5 stars because lower cost and designed with brackets to connect truck bed (no drilling or buying brackets). Heavy steel and large bolts with solid top rod so heavy duty.

Easy to use and assemble. Sturdy for my needs as a paint contracter. I strapped 22ft and 32 ft aluminum extension ladders with no problem. Would take 5 minutes to take racks off with the J screw (no drill) set up.

Bad: Packaging, design (j bolts are crude and too short) Instructions (mine came with assembly instructions for a TRAMPOLINE) Universal for (I am NOT drilling holes or damaging my factory pickup bed to mount it. DURABILITY, I have the parts in my pickup bed AND THEY ARE RUSTING BEFORE THEY WERE EVEN INSTALLED, ITS ONLY BEEN A FEW DAYS. In conclusion:Apex is just a brand name on crappy imports, REALLY cheesy construction, pretend 'coating'. NOT universal. other that the pictures I cannot find any positive reason to buy this. Let alone you will probably lose your cargo in addition to the cost of this joke of a rack. I would return it but the packaging was destroyed when it arrived and now that is is rusted? what is the point? - better to recycle the metal and move on

When I opened the box I honestly thought that the wrong rack had been sent. I just finished installing it on my 2015 Ram 1500. At this point, it far exceeds my expectations. It is solidly constructed and easy to install. Of course it's for work and play. I'll return at the end of the summer and let you know how it's holding up after a season of canoeing, kayaking, and some work thrown in.

Seems like good quality but the enclosed J-bolt clamps aren't long enough to fit the bed of a Toyota Tacoma with the Toyota active rack in place. It would cost over $30 to return it so I'm trying to rig up an alternative clamp system for less.

I rated it a three star as it is a pain in the butt to put on and off the truck !
