Almost perfect
My teenager is a red belt in MMA, and recently he suffered a pretty bad hematoma on his inner calf. He was using some clunky shin guards from another well-known manufacturer ... solidly made, but unfortunately they were kicked out of position and his inner calf was hurt pretty bad. Those guards had two fold over straps that rotated on him, allowing his calf to be exposed. I was going to go with the 'stay put' sock-type guards, but the coach felt they wouldn't provide enough protection for Muay Thai and kickboxing. What zeroed me in on these RDX guards is the extra hook/loop strap mid calf. This combined with the fold over straps really keeps them in place on his thighs. The only gripe I have, and why I docked a star, is with the instep strap. It is too wide, front to back ... at least for him. While the instep guard completely protects his instep and toes, the toes tend to slip out because they do not overlap the front of the strap. If MTX moved that back a couple inches, it would allow the strap to be better positioned in his arch.I understand this is a tough thing to design for, given everyone has different feet. My solution was to simply cut back the strap to the point where enough of his foot overlapped it. That really turned it into a completely different set of shin guards for him. They held strong to both the calf and the instep, and even gave him a confidence boost. Hopefully my alteration doesn't wear them out too soon, but I hope for others that RDX takes a look at that component and can make the strap narrower, and move it back a little more.

My calves are too big
The material seems great and they seem like a good product however there are 3 straps on the back. The top and bottom work great but the middle strap is an elastic band that velcro's and it is just too tight around my calf. I am average height, 5'10" 185lbs but I have large calves and they were just too tight. I will have to leave the middle unstrapped. I wish there was a better adjustment.

Good Overall, Slip off under heavy use.
Yesterday was my first time using these shin guards. I used them for a Muay Thai class. I am still fairly new to Muay Thai but I will share my experience. I felt they were more comfortable and lightweight than other shin guards I have tried. However, as soon as I went one round throwing a lot of kicks on the bag it seemed they slipped and wouldn't stay in the right position on my shin. I will most likely look to try other shin guards very soon.

Falls apart
Unfortunately, I only had these for roughly 3-4 weeks before it started falling apart on me. The stitchings are coming loose and it’s just truly disappointing overall. I don’t even use them for sparring, just basic kickboxing classes about 3-5 times per week and take them off while kicking heavy bag. So it’s not like I was just abusing them. I’ve always been a fan of rdx but this isn’t the first product I’ve bought with absolutely poor stitching. It’s time for me to move on to another brand.

👍🏽
The sizing is a bit awkward as others have mentioned, but if you need a hard-shell shingaurd on a budget; these get the job done.

Well cushioned but broke on the first use
They seem well padded but the stitching ripped loose on one of the middle straps during the very first use. On closer inspection it looks like there is just a single row of stitches holding all the separate parts together (including the foot pad) so not sure how long they will last. I guess the middle strap isn't essential to keep it fixed to your leg but it's not been a great start.Update: I was contacted by the excellent customer service team and offered a full refund or a replacement set of more expensive shin guards. Good customer service 👌👌

Okay?
I’ve had these 3-4 weeks used them 2/3 times a week for light sparring and bag work and they are okay. Nice design and they fit well , offer adequate protection and are generally good for the price. Only problem is they are already starting to fall apart at the stitching for the Velcro straps. I can’t see them lasting for another few months at this rate.
