Works as expected. Can drive a 1080P TV @120Hz and the same TV at 4K 30Hz. That was exactly what I needed. It's definitely an active adapter since I was able to run three monitors on one ATI 280X card; which is apparently only possible with an active DP adapter setting timing signal. Can not vouch for durability, but it feels solid when used.

As a general adapter it is great. However, I found it does not do 2560x1600p@60 that it was claimed to do. It will handle this resolution at 50 Hz and even 59.94 Hz seemed ok from what I could tell but we really were trying to find an adapter that would convert 2560x1600p@60 and this isn't it. I have purchased 2 of these and neither will work at this high pixel clock using various sources. So it looks like this would work fine for 3840x2160p@30 but to go to the higher pixel clock of the 2560x1600p@60 it has some artifacts. If you want this to do UHD conversion then you are fine but if you are trying to really max out the pixel clock you will not be able to use this adapter. So 3 stars because it works for lots of cases but doesn't actually do the claimed 2560x1600p@60.

If you're considering purchasing this in the hopes that you'll be able to use your R9 290x or equivalent graphics card to achieve 60hz at 4k resolutions then stop right now! This will not work, I've tested it and it is a no go! I'm sure this product is great when used the way it's intended but if you're looking for 60hz at 4k on and amd graphics card then get yourself a monitor that has a displayport input or get yourself an nvidia gtx card instead,

This adapter enabled me to use full 4K resolution with my Seiki 39" "monitor." I had tried another DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, but it had not worked, so I know there is something different about this Accell one that the other did not have. For what it's worth, I am using this with a Radeon HD 7470, in a Dell Optiplex 9010, running Ubuntu Linux 14.04. Once I installed the official AMD Radeon driver for Linux and rebooted, it automatically chose 4K resolution.
