World's Best Shirt Stays – Original Garters for Police, Military, Law Enforcement Uniforms, 1 Pair with Sock Clips

Prior to reviewing the item, just a bit of info to help you assign the proper weight to a review prior to your decision to make a purchase or not, and I purchase the reviewed items with my money, just FYI so you know I have no conflict of interest in my review I wear these style shirt stays at least 5 days of the week for approximately 12 hours of the day during which I may be sitting, standing, driving, kneeling down, etc. so I need a stay that has a quality clasp and good quality elastic to keep up. I have tried nearly every version of shirt/sock elastic stay you will find for purchase on Amazon and will review those that stand out as mediocre, poor, or excellent. If you have not used these before, they are simply made to keep your shirt nice and neatly tucked in, while they also keep your socks pulled up, performing two functions that help keep you looking well-kempt from the time you finish dressing through the longest days. Take note, one measure is the clamping force of the clasps, but contrary to what you might think, more pressure alone does not make for a superior design. While more force would keep them in place, personally, I do not want holes in my clothing which is what too much pressure from the clasp will, and has done, to shirts and socks. Assuming you adjust the stay to the appropriate length, a the clasps success, or failure (which include damaging your clothes) depends on the combination of clamping force and the clasps retention teeth. The tooth design and material greatly affects the ability of the stay to function as expected. These measures plus the overall durability is what I base my reviews of shirt stays on. Now on to the review...... I have had these for 2 years so I believe my review provides comes with sufficient use to be helpful and accurate. Despite many models costing half as much appear identical, looks can be deceiving. First the clasps are well designed to effectively hold tight to your clothes, and some cheaper models apply the same or more clamping force. That may sound like a good thing, but it is an example of the functional difference between cheap knock-offs and these because they all have little teeth in the clasp, and the cheaper versions will actually damage your clothes applying excessive pressure. Next, the length adjusting sliders stay in place. May seem silly having to make this point, but I have compared inconspicuous details on the plastic adjusters, and they are not all the same. These stays have little extra teeth locking them in place tighter when force is placed on them from the stretch of the elastic. Compared to the cheaper stays, you find that the adjusting buckle does not have the little extra teeth that give the high quality stays additional friction to stay in place. Finally, the elastic used in these is superior to that used in the cheap versions. I believe that as all elastic warms up, the rubber woven in it becomes more "stretchy" but the higher quality elastic in these shirt stays seem to remain more taut. I'm not an elastic expert, but assume these use a material with higher density of rubber strands that provide the elastic. This translates into increased durability as well. Keep in mind all elastic material wears out eventually as the rubber breaks down or snaps, but these have maintained their elasticity over the 2 years of use better than any other shirt stays I have put through their paces. Yeah, this is a lengthy review for what seems like an insignificant accessory in your wardrobe, but if they do not stay put, you will soon realize how aggravating it is to repeatedly have to reattach them while fully dressed. I hope you find this informative and helpful when selecting a quality model shirt stay.

On a 5 star scale here are my observations: Style - 4 Stars - It is great that these are 4 individual straps because it can be custom adjusted to any man's ideal placement so you can find just the right angle to pull on your shirt. Also having so much flexibility in placements means you can find the most comfortable place as well so that the strap does not rub in an uncomfortable way against say your knee, or pull at hairs in a sensitive spot. Fit - 5 Stars - I am 6' tall and there is plenty of adjustable length for me to work with. Material - 5 Stars, good quality materials. These have the best clip of any I have tried. They are fast and easy to put on and they hold very well without slipping or ripping the fabric. The best part is that the clip is very slim and can be worn under a slim fitting pant without creating a strange bulge. The elastic band is strong and sturdy. Construction - 5 Stars, sturdy and well built. The clips and strong and hold well. The only improvement I would hope for is that they have an adjustable Velcro strap instead of the sliding clip, but it all woks well and I can always find just the right amount of pull for the all sizes of shirts. They work well, but make sores, where they contact my skin. I sprayed them with Plasti-dip, to insulate the surfaces that touch my legs and thighs, from the nickel coating. If you can’t keep your shirt tail tucked, there is none better. If you are allergic to nickel, paint them with plasti-dip, let it dry, and you’ll be fine. In the photo, the one on the left is as they come, the one on the right is painted with 2 coats of plasti-dip. I cannot explain why or how, but in the past, the metal would corrode with my body chemistry while making my legs hurt. I would put tape on them, but it would come off. Plasti-dip is the best way to counteract this affect, that I’ve found. They make it tricky to use the restroom. Typically. I’ll disconnect the rear two, from my sock, then clip them together, in front of my abdomen. My shirt stays in place, making my uniform look neat, and proper, not sloppy, from shirt tails sticking out.

Fellas/Ladies...if you aren't using shirt stays then you are wrong. While shirt stays are great for people in uniform and suits they can be used by anyone with a shirt tucked in. Polo shirt, button down and slacks, you name it...if you tuck it in, use shirt stays to instantly upgrade your appearance. I first bought these stays in 2017, almost three years ago, for work and am still wearing the same pair. Maybe this isnt the correct design for you, but find what is and use that. Let me give you the reasons why you need shirt stays: 1) They keep your shirt tucked in. Not only is this a professional and attractive look, it keeps your pants and belt from rubbing on your skin once your shirt is untucked. 2) They get rid of the baggy shirt look. The baggy look is not in. The current fashion is a more slim, modern, tailored look. 3) This design, as opposed to the stirrup design, keep your socks up. I got a lot of quirky dress socks. I try to have a pair for every occasion. But the sock I wear are cheap and fall down easily. These keep the socks up and looking professional. Yes, there are a few draw backs. My pair, as I said I have had them for almost three years, have lost a bit of their elasticity...but thats okay because they are adjustable. So as they get looser, I just tighten them back up. The metal clips sometimes come undone, which is annoying. And yes, it can make it difficult to go to the bathroom but that is a small price to pay. If you care about your apperance and are not using sock stays, try them out and get an instant upgrade to your apperance. If you are worried about being judged for wearing them, no one will know you have them on. Anyone that does find out are either going to be EMTs who have seen way weirder stuff or perhaps a special someone who will be impressed that you care enough about your appearance to invest in it. Ladies/Men...does your significant other look frumpy every time he tucks his shirt in? Wish they had that red carpet, custom tailored look every day? These are for you...to get for your signifant other...for all the reasons I listed above. Shirt stays are a must have and must use for anyone who is tucking a shirt in to a pair of pants and wants to look amazing. Get these like I did and be happy...or find a different style and get those. Get what ever works for you and use them. You will be happy you did.

Love these. Bought a few other brands before this and they always wore out. I looked at my previous orders so I could tell a buddy to buy these exact shirt stays, and I realized I’ve had this same set for over 7 years and they are holding up great! I like how you can independently adjust each strap in case your shirt tail is longer than the front. They’ve never fallen off or left marks on my shirt. I would definitely buy these again but luckily they’re made well enough that I haven’t had to.

3/5 Stars. The quality of the band is way better than any other shirt stay available. However, the clips need improvement. The clip will work securely with any thick shirt, such as polyester, cotton, etc, but will not clip securely with thin dress shirts. I purchased this to use with my security uniform and dress shirts. Works well with my security uniform because the shirt is thick. I can work a 12-hour shift with constant walking and getting in and out of a vehicle without having the clips snap off. Doesn't work well with most of my dressing shirts.

My boyfriend was complaining about how his dress shirts would never stay properly tucked in after he walked around or sat down. I did some research online about how to fix this problem, and I came across shirt stays. Apparently cops and military folks use these to keep their uniforms tidy - who knew? The way these shirt stays work is you clip one end to the top of your sock and the other end to the bottom of your shirt. There are instructions and photos online for how to best configure the stays under your clothes. You can attach one set to the front of your legs and one set to the back, but this can be uncomfortable while sitting. You can crisscross the stays to help with sitting, so that the "x" of the cross is on the back of your leg. My boyfriend tried a few methods and found the best for him was just to clip to the front of his socks and the front of his shirt, only using 2 stays total. The back of his shirt doesn't stay in perfectly, but it's much better than before. I ordered these skeptically, because I was worried they'd be super visible under his clothes or that they'd spring off and whack him in the jewels. I was pleasantly surprised, because they're nearly invisible, even with a lightweight suit. If he bends his leg to tighten the fabric and you look closely, you can see the outline of the buckle, but that's it. He's a tall guy, so I was worried these stays wouldn't accommodate a 6'4" dude, but they fit great. The adjustable plastic piece makes it easy to change the length, and they're very stretchy. He only had a clip come off once, and that was because his shirt was a very slippery fabric. With every other shirt, though, he hasn't had a problem. I thought the clips might damage his socks and shirts, but that hasn't been a problem. He's used these stays for many months, and they're still working as well as they did originally. There are cheaper stays out there, but this is a case where it's important to pay for quality. I imagine he'll have these stays for years, but I'll update if anything changes.

These are the best shirt stays on the market. They hold very firmly (I've only had them fall off a few times in about a year of wearing them). These are better than the ones that wrap around your thighs, as they don't ride up at all. I wore these during my police academy and had the tightest shirt there.
