Interesting read, but a little confusing
Interesting read about how poverty affects people and I enjoyed the homoerotic content. The story jumps between different scenes, which is confusing at first but interesting nonetheless.

This maybe not what you are looking for!
This is not so much a criticism of the book but a spoiler warning as the cover is misleading. It's a plodding tale of a gay guy and his dad, in an unspecified foreign country in a dark neighbourhood where a massacre takes place, and our penniless hero hangs out with a motley group of characters in a local pub, visits a gay bathhouse across the street, enjoys sex on line (with honey!), and dances like a butterfly. Not much really happens and when it does it's passionless, mundane and depressing. Odd fantasy sequences interrupt the monotony. The translation makes it an easy read, maybe for young adults. The Columbian author teaches creative writing - I wonder if anyone taught him. The praise on the cover has maybe a political agenda but not apparently a literary one.
