Perfect for a budget friendly TRD Air Intake on my 2014 Scion tC
If you own a 2011-2016 Scion tC, this is for you. Let me start off by saying that I am a huge fan of the TRD parts and products, and I have yet to regret choosing their stuff over other comparable alternatives. I will admit, however, that the TRD Cold Air Intake System is WAY too expensive (about $430). For that price the only things you get are a bigger intake flow accelerator, the TRD air filter, and a slightly bigger air box top that says "TRD" on top. The tube connected directly to the throttle body is different as well, but not 100% necessary. I found out, after lots of snooping around Amazon, that they sell these parts separately! I decided to save some dough by just buying the TRD air filter and TRD air intake flow accelerator. Together they perform essentially the same as the full kit. I did eventually get the TRD air box top as well, because race car. Please note: if you do go this route, installing the TRD air box top with the original rubber tube will be a tight fit and does require some "finessing," but it does fit. I just rotated the tube such that the PCV hose did not rest on the valve cover. Also, with the TRD air box top, you will need to get a slightly longer M6 bolt and a 0.5" nylon spacer. That's what I did and it works great. Now, about this part alone, and what it does:It is just a larger intake snorkel that allows the car to suck more air from inside the fender, where the air is slightly cooler. This part arrived well packaged and appeared exactly as pictured. Installation was straight forward, given that this is a direct OEM replacement part that sits in the exact same spot as the original. With it being larger, it does take a little patience to get it into position, but that's if you're being delicate and not wanting to scratch it up. Once installed, this part works great. With the TRD air filter, you can hear a the intake, and it whistles a little as the throttle plate is cracked open. I highly recommend this part to anyone with a 2011-2016 Scion tC looking to do some tasteful modifications to their car.

Does the job.
Got this for my 2012 Scion xB. Combine this with a free-flowing drop-in filter; like an aFe or a K&N, and the result is, basically, the current-design TRD intake for about 75% less money. It adds a TRD logo to your engine bay, adds a somewhat deeper note to the engine intake sound, keeps the intake temperatures cooler than stock, and gives a small, but noticeable, bump in engine power.

Great product, Removed my carbon filter, and already had a K&N filter. Basically a poor mans TRD setup or sleeper setup. Gives better top end response and also makes a small whistle which is there stock but is more audible due to the bigger opening. The butt dyno feels slight to no increase of performance but it's a peace of mind that I am getting better gas mileage and a little performance increase. Good bang for the buck if you like the stock setup.
