Great Carafe with some pros and cons
I bought this stainless carafe for my office area since I brew tea or coffee often, but take some time to drink them all by myself. And it's a bit annoying to go back and forth to kitchen to brew another cup or add more hot water to re-heat them. This was by far the best carafe I have owned. It is a bit too big for myself, but it really keeps the temperature. For me, I think the hot one (not the boiling hot one) lasted for good 4-6 hours. I'm sure it might stay hot longer if it's boiling hot water, but I don't think it really holds that heat for 12 hours as advertised. Boiling water may stay up to 6-8 hours but then you will feel that the water is getting cooler by then.Cold beverage was a bit tricky for me. I saw some people keep this carafe in their fridge, so after I made a bottle full of ice tea, I stored them in the fridge to have it the next day cold. But when I tried it the next day, it was still that below-room-temp ice tea. Makes sense, you know, the point of having vacuum insulated carafe is to keep the temperature inside, so it did its job! But even after 3 days the ice tea still remained not-cold. So unless you put already cold beverage, putting the carafe in the fridge would not make the becerage cold! I just added some ice into it. XDIt's a bit difficult to clean inside the bottle. Opening is very narrow (wide enough to fit bottle brush but it's hard to clean it thoroughly) and the top lid dangles a lot. (It won't stay wide open; if you pour your drink, it will flip forward)I have been using it for about a week now. I think it is a great product if you have a small party or a heavy tea/coffee drinker like me and also if you drink it within a few hours. If you want to keep the beverage cold, make sure you add ice with the drink or have them cold before you put it in the carafe.

A solidly performing carafe with excellent customer service
I originally bought this carafe and it arrived either used or defective. I know this because there was a gunky residue all over the inside where the top meets the carafe (second photo). I also know this because a replacement carafe arrived with a silicon ring and I now realize the original carafe I bought did not have such a ring.I posted a one star review of my experience and immediately returned the product. The company contacted me and spent weeks working to convince me to give their product a second try. They arranged for a replacement which arrived without the gunk (first photo). After using it for a few weeks, I am increasing my review from one to four stars based on two things: 1) the actual performance of the product and 2) the company’s willingness to go the extra mile to make things right. Now for the updated review:Pros:Appearance: The carafe is stainless inside and out and very attractive. I like the way it looks on my counter. Guests like the way it looks on the table.Health: There is no odor, discoloration or taste imparted to the coffee. I am not sure what material the black stopper is made of (plastic or silicon) but the liquid does not touch the stopper while in the carafe or while pouring.Effectiveness: If I preheat the carafe and fill it about half full, it will keep my coffee hot for about two hours. If I fill the carafe completely, it will stay nicely warm (not piping hot but definitely drinkable) all day (12 hours). I have a smaller french press so I sometimes do not fill the carafe unless I make two batches but that is not the carafe’s fault.Cons:Silicon ring: The ring that prevents spills around the lid is ridiculously thin and difficult to place. If not seated absolutely perfectly, the carafe will leak. Because it seems flimsy, I also worry about the ring breaking with repeated trials. I solved this issue by keeping the carafe together for about two weeks at a time once I get the ring seated. I rinse it without separating the top, air dry it thoroughly and it stays clean and odorless. On the plus side, the silicon is so much better than the plastic used by other companies.Top closure: This carafe is very difficult to close. You open it by pressing down on the metal lever but you cannot close it by flipping the lever back up. Instead, you have to firmly press (mash) the stopper in each time with some force, taking care it is well-seated in the center. Honestly, I’m not sure there is a better way to close these and it does stay quite warm when you get it right but it is a bit of a pain. All in all, the carafe deserves a solid 4 to 4.5 stars when in new condition. I like it, use it daily and it is much better than letting my coffee get cold in my french press. I also appreciate the company’s desire to make things right with its customers.

Does not keep coffee hot
I have tried everything to help this carafe keep the coffee hot, but it just refuses to cooperate. I warm it with boiling water first, then add the hot coffee and seal it tightly (you have to press down on the spout until you feel it seal). Even with all of this, the coffee is lukewarm after an hour and a half. The point of buying it was so that I could make a pot of coffee and keep it warm for the whole morning. I definitely regret buying this carafe. I would have given it only 1 star, but at least it's pretty, so I gave it 2. But it does not keep my coffee hot or even just warm enough to be satisfying to drink. UPDATE TO MY REVIEW: Upon reading my review, the company contacted me to apologize and offered me a refund. They believe the product may have been damaged in transit since other buyers have not experienced my problem. I accepted the refund offer, so I am amending my review to praise the customer service. However, the 2 stars I gave the product still stand, since that rating accurately reflects the product performance. They also offered to send me a replacement carafe, but I have declined because (frankly) I'm tired of the whole ordeal. I based my initial purchase on other people's great reviews, so perhaps my carafe was uniquely faulty in some way.

Nice Carafe but requires preheating!
Must preheat with boiling water and let it sit for 10 mins, which will only keep coffee hot for an hour or 2, and after 2 hrs coffee is warm, not hot. So if you have 20-30 mins to preheat it might stay hot/warmer for 3-4 hrs, not sure, never tried. Who wants to wait that long!

Really like the looks of this carafe
Really like the looks of this carafe. It does keep the coffee hotter than my older one, but it was cold by evening. We do have to press down the lid by hand, to be sure it's sealed tightly. It has a wide pouring mouth, so need to be sure its right above the cup, or may spill. We can adapt. Put in eight cups from the pot, and it was about half full, of course pot is smaller at the top. It held more coffee than the reviews seemed to imply.

The top section began to chip. Not a quality item
I was disappointed to see the top section around the spout with a section that began to show signs of wear. I only used this several times . Not quality stainless !!!
