it works great. However
After I locate a solution to problem, it works great. However, I'm so used to looking up something in an Index. Different terms are used to describe a problem. I am used to "single space, double space, space and a half" (old typewriting terms), it took me a while.I know I should take a class in this "stupid making something better" rendition of Word 8. I had just gotten used to the 7 version and when I got an updated hp set up, Word 8 was already installed. Not your fault, but remember the old saying KISS, "Keep it simple stupid!"I'll keep working on it, have not lived to be 81 without persevering. Remember the old saying "keep smiling and they will wonder what you are up to. Tthanks for asking. mec

Good for beginners
If your knowledge of computers and operating systems is extremely minimal, which is the case with me, then this book is great. I wanted to make a simple database with access and I had no idea how to use it, or connect it with any of the other Office programs. This book explained it in a way that allowed me to do what I wanted. There is certainly more advanced knowledge on the subject, and if you consider yourself an expert, this probably isn't for you. But for beginners, it's great.

The Right Solution for Quick Answers
Got this as an on-site reference for the teachers after our private church school completely overhauled the IT system. Having this brought them up to speed on 2013 in terms of usability and general comfort. It doesn't get too technical, nor too broad. Having each program in the suite in a separate chapter is excellent and makes for quick answers. If you are looking for a good use guide, this is probably a good one to have. But, if you are looking for power-user tricks and tips, go with the high-end techie ones.

This book is really helpful in moving from old versions of Office or starting new.
There is so much different now on office from the much older versions of Word and Excel that I have used for years, and I am starting from scratch to learn Powerpoint. Plus changing to Windows 8 where so much is different I felt helpless at the start. I read descriptions and reviews for eight books, and decided to start with this book. I am pleased with this book. It also has sections on One Note 2013, Outlook 2013, Access 2013, and some other helpful sections.

Problems with Mailing Labels for Office 2013
I have had several of the "For Dummies" Books but this one is very wordy and sometimes difficult to understand. I am still searching for an easy step by step way to do mailing labels. I have been doing multiple mailings for many years.(Since 1994). All were very easy to set up until now. I still do not have a current mailing label update. It use to be so easy using Avery 30 label sheets, but for some reason, this has become not user friendly.

For Beginners
This is a very good book for beginners. It has a couple of tidbits to offer intermediates users, but not a lot for advanced. Maybe I should have realized this, but did not. It might be helpful if they included this in the description so that it is clear what level this book is intended.

Must Have For Dummies
In my humble opinion this is a must have book for anyone just starting out or maybe one upgrading from a much earlier version. It is well written and clearly covers the basics of the Office Suite. There is plenty of information here to get you up and running. I'll give it five stars for a book in the "for Dummies" category.

Office 2013
It's for dummies .... Very easy to use. It came in very handy as I purchased the new office 365 a couple of months ago, and I could not figure out half the stuff it came with.

So far quite disappointing ...., unless you are a beginner.
My very positive experience with various IT-related "for Dummies", lead me to expect a lot from a 782-pages "10-books-in-1" Office 2013 for Dummies. Certainly as it has a separate "book" about "Working with Charts and Graphics". A topic like "how to set the scale of the (vertical) Y-axis" appeas to me quite basic. Nothing to be found in this book, neither in the Charts & Graphics "book" nor in the Excel "book".Apparantly I should have realised it is written mainly for beginners.Others who are looking for just a bit more than very basic stuff could probably do better with a Google search and find the anwers in Microsoft's help pages.

Waste of good money
Waste of money! Doesn't show pages at bottom of screen. Hard to find what you want on kindle version and does not appear to have downloaded the whole book. Much easier to just play with the programme itself as it is much easier to use than previous Microsoft Office versions.
