Jacquard PROCION 2/3OZ CARMINE RED

No matter how much I mix with water when washed out it isn't red it's pink

Great product and the carmine red was perfect for dying my hot pink dress to a great red. Followed the directions on their website using soda ash and the result was a perfect shade of red. No fading, even color distribution even with the material being 94% cotton 6% spandex.

This dye is a stunning red color, though even with two dye processes on a used 100% cotton sheet (which I made into a dress) not all parts of the fabric took the dye evenly. Next time I will be sure to use new fabric only and will hope for even results. In any case I love the color and the process was pretty simple and straightforward. Also the dye did not wash out or fade with subsequent washing.

I used this dye to revitalize a pair of black (yes black) pants that I had accidentally splashed bleach on. After trying and failing to conceal the bleach marks (sharpie, black dye, etc.), I decided to go a different direction. I bleached the whole pants until they were approximately khaki colored, then dyed them red. I figured that since bleach marks on black clothes look pink anyway, red dye would hide the marks best. It did! I can still find the shadows of them if I look, but that's only because I know where to look.After several washings, this dye has retained excellent color.One word of caution: I tried a different color dye on a different garment, and didn't follow the instructions as closely - I didn't stay by the dye bath and stir continually. That garment did not take the dye well. You really have to stir well. So grab something to occupy yourself while you sit by the bath and stir.
