Polish Your Poise with Madame Chic

I was gifted three of this author’s books by an American friend — I am actually French — and let me say, they’re complete nonsense.This particular book is just full of common-sense etiquette tips, of the variety that everyone has definitely heard before: sit up straight, say “please” and “thank you”, don’t swear, don’t take things that aren’t yours, be on time.More irritatingly, author has a naively romantic view of Paris. Either she knows it’s false and doesn’t care, or she isn’t quite perceptive enough, or is too well off, to understand that Paris isn’t some wonderland where everyone is well-dressed, chic and polite. It makes the settings of her books bizarre, and so undermines the very limited number of points she has to make.Overall, a waste of money. Save your time and effort for a different book and author.

This book, is absolutely inspirational as to cultivating poise. The impact which it has on life is sensational, I agree with many points the author reflects on, such as how society's so called role models of today are in no way defined to uphold the role model status compared to elegant and respectful golden era stars such as Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly. I will now go on to order the hardcover copy so my daughter can also read it when she is old enough.

Enjoyable book. I think every young lady should be given a copy as a gift at some point early in their life and maybe the world will be a kinder and more polite place.
