Alaskanite Brightest LED Lantern - Camping Lantern for Hiking, Emergencies, Hurricanes, Outages, Storms - Multi Purpose - Gray (Cool White)

I am so happy with this lantern. The size is perfect and WOW it is bright! I do a lot of kayaking and trying to tie down a kayak after dark is always a problem and a pain. I was thrilled to find out this fits perfectly in a gallon sized Ziploc bag. Even though it is not waterproof, I can put it in a Ziploc, throw it in my pack and be on my way. When I am ready to load I just set my AlaskaNite on the ground and I can see! I don't even have to take it out of the bag.This takes 3 AA batteries (not included). I have not used it long enough to wear them out so I can't say how long they will last. Since it is LED I would imagine quite awhile. It also feels rugged and solid like it will last a long time. I would highly recommend for anyone who wants to have a bright light for either recreation or emergency use.

Works well, very compact and very low battery draw. Have used this for the entire camp season on the same set of batteries. seems durable enough, I keep it in my go bag and it gets banged up quite a bit. It is bright so you need to hang it high, and that is my only complaint as the metal clamps that hold it close are also useful for hanging it from a branch or nail but you have to fuss with it a bit to hang straight. Not much of an issue overall. I am happy with the purchase.

After one use, this product ended up breaking. My friend bought the same one as me (in a separate order from mine). We used brand new Duracell batteries from a different batch. Went camping with it and the first time, it was great. Easy to use, cool design and plenty bright. It never rained or was even mildly wet on our camping trip. After the camping trip, we both stored our respective lanterns in our own camping tub that we each have. The tubs are stored in a storage shed that is dry.On our next camping trip, we both bring our camping tubs and grab the lanterns when it starts getting dark. We both notice that both of our lanterns is unusually dim. I thought, "The batteries are brand new and we didn't use the lantern that much last time. What gives?" I unscrewed the bottom of my lantern and was not happy to see that there was powdery stuff all over the bottom. I thought, "Oh man, maybe I got a bad batch of batteries."On a hunch, I unscrewed the bottom of my friend's lantern and wouldn't you know it, same exact problem. Given that we bought the lanterns independently, used different battery packs, stored them in a dry container that was stored in a shed (nothing else in my camping tub was wet or damp at all) and both lanterns had the same problem, I can't think of any other reason that the lanterns went bad other then that these were not good lanterns :( I was hoping these would work out given that how bright it was the first time and compact but I'll be asking for a full refund.

We ordered this to compliment our other power outage supplies, after a recent ice storm that caused county-wide outages ranging from 2 to 7 days. I haven't needed to use it yet, but it looks good. It provides a great deal of light and takes up only a tiny amount of space for storage. I plan to place it on my long dresser, right in front of my big mirror the next time the power is out and I am sure it will be a perfect light source. We also stocked up on batteries, so if there is an extended outage again, we can replace the batteries when needed.

We had a power outage and used these little lanterns to play board games. Too bright in our eyes to set on table so hung them with string from dining room chandelier. Other lanterns we had did not afford as enough light to see clearly. The next week my granddaughter got out two of our the halloween pumpkin head buckets and put on lantern in each. Since the height and therefore the amount of light is adjustable, she was able to keep the lantern at a perfect glow. Too fun. They used them in their room for play and night lights. Their weight is perfect to pack for camping. We love them!

we are moving to Costa Rica in a few months and have been looking for lanterns we can pack and carry with us since the electricity goes out sometimes. These lanterns give a huge amount of light, perfect for each room in our house. They stay on for a immense amount of time and we will be bringing them down in our small luggage to use at the new house! We are extremely satisfied and will purchase enough for the whole place, one for each room so we are prepared for a blackout. They also fold down easily and fit into a small suitcase. We couldn't be more satisfied!!!

Living in an area prone to tropical storms and hurricanes, I have found that candles throw too much heat when there is no air conditioning. (I am going to keep a few to heat up food however.)Looked at several products at Wal-Mart but the large handles would take up space and the space I have to store these is very limited. This unit folds down into a nice compact size. It also pulls up to reveal a nice amount of light. It takes 3 AA batteries, a size I usually keep on hand. So I'm going to order more of this unit.

When you first open the box you'll be like... really? This dinky little thing is getting these great reviews? Then you first turn it on and go blind for a few seconds having looked directly at it, realizing you just seriously underestimated this amazing little lantern. I would say 2 of these is as bright, if not brighter than my coleman fuel lantern. They have the advantage though because I can hang them under my canopy and provide 2 light sources with better coverage. Very happy with my purchase.
