One Great Point & Shoot!!
i have had many point and Shoot cameras over the years and this one is the closest to a DSLR as it gets! It is pocketable but just barely. With the optional hand grip it gets real tight. Also with the hand grip the custom cases will not fit. That's about the only bad if you can call it that. the camera is super fast with the 1" aperture! the pictures are crystal clear and the flexibility and features are world class. The flex screen is wonderful and can be tilted so you can take pics above your head, down low or even a selfie! (it flips up to face you and when you click for selfie the camera counts down from 3!) The camera can be used in all kinds of manual modes and raw but the auto functions are so nice and varied that it is rarely needed. the menus are easy to get around and you can save your favs to the function button. The camera has a nice Leica lens that is crisp and clean. Even though the zoom is not as robust as other cameras or even the older series of this camera it never became an issue. I can zoom into the digital picture and get the closeup that I would normally get with a zoom and just crop the picture. The quality is way better than a shaky zoom and fuzzy picture! Lastly, the camera has an optical viewfinder that i thought I needed and may in certain bright light conditions but I am in love with this camera's screen and flexibility regardless. It is expensive but WOW what a great piece of equipment.

Great guide. I bought the RX100 2 days before a trip to Denali and Kenai Peninsula so I didn't have much time to play with the camera to figure out the basics. The Sony start up guide that came with my RX100 was useless so I downloaded the digital guide onto my iPad and have found it to be invaluable. Sony has an on-line guide but it is very difficult to navigate through. This guide is very intuitive and logical and I usually can go to whatever it is I'm looking for. This guide puts Sony to shame - for an $800.00 point and shoot this guide should be included. If you're purchasing a RX100 iii just go ahead and buy this guide at the same time- it'll save you a lot of frustration searching internet forums trying to figure out basic as well as custom settings. If you're without internet as I often was it is especially handy to have it right on your iPad or iPhone. Of course if you're upgrading from a previous RX100 model you are probably pretty familiar with the menus and functions and probably won't need this comprehensive of a guide.

Good, but very general ..
I would say that if you are already a Sony camera owner (especially the newer models), I would pass on this book. While it is very well-written and probably great for the target audience (someone who is completely unfamiliar with Sony and perhaps any digital camera), it won't tell you anything you don't already know. I give it 4 stars, because it is well written and laid out and probably does what it says it will.I generally agree with those comments made here that this is a book for a beginner - or at least someone completely new to digital cameras. Like all cameras on the market today, the RX100 series is full of "modes" that some of us will never even touch, as we know and want to control the tool ourselves. Thankfully, the RX100 is a very serious cam and allows us to do that. This book, then, is directed not so much at the experienced photographer. On the plus side, it is very thorough, and could perhaps be deemed the "quick start" user guide that didn't come with the camera. As a long time digital shooter (and owner of other Sony cams including a7 and NEX), most of what was in the book, I already knew. From playing around with the menus, there are some things in the camera that I am unfamiliar with, including some of the new AF modes, etc. It also says it can be remotely controlled, but other than plugging in my wired remote, there is nothing to explain this. It was these details I was looking for. I guess I will try the other book.

Just what the doctor ordered
Most instruction manuals that come with cameras are dismal. That was the case with my Sony RX100 III. Therefore, I searched Amazon for instruction guides with good to excellent ratings. After my research I decided to buy this one. I was not disappointed. Mr. White’s book, “Photographer’s Guide To The Sony DSC-RX100 III,” covers all subjects you need to master your camera and make the most of its many features. I found his writing to be clear, precise and easy to follow. He covers operation details carefully and walks you through the all steps necessary to use any particular feature. The book is also well organized and supplemented by hundreds of screen shots that show what you Will see on your camera’s viewfinder when using a setting. Bottom line - 5 stars and highly recommended.

This is a well written User Guide covering the details of the Sony RX100 III...
I am exchanging this guide for the RX100 V guide since I have opted to upgrade from the RX100 III to the RX100 V. Mr. White covers the material covered in a chronological / logical manner with visuals. I don't believe most will be disappointed. In addition it's covers much of, "we don't know what we don't know". Hence, if you have purchased or been given an RX100 you may be frustrated by having so many unused features and using as "a point and shoot camera"...this is your guide. Please keep in mind that even as a point and shoot there are "point and shoot" settings that you should consider to optimize our "point and shoot" experience. Personally I intend to focus on understanding the nuances of shooting stills and more important to really get into shooting videos. Hence, picking up the RX100 V User's Guide. In my opinion, it is best that anyone who opts to pick up a Sony RX series camera dig deep into the nuances and features offered to fully enjoy the experience...now back to the camera.

Learn everything about Sony RX100 M3
This is a excellent guide to the Sony RX100 M3.I was a little hesitant about purchasing this book but I made the right choice in buying it.It is nicely laid out and each chapter guides you along effortlessly through the workings of the RX100,and the pictures make sure your on the right page.I am an experienced camera user having several cameras but even so I needed this book. The RX100 is a complex camera added to that it's my first time using the Sony menu system.I'm sure I would have worked everything out eventually but the book made it much easier and quickerto get me out using the camera, which is the part we all enjoy, isn't it?And its always nice to have a reference book like this to hand.I'm sure you'll find it as helpful I did.Thank you Alexander.

Fantastic Book
I have read a few of this author's books and he explains everything in a very easy way. I fully recommend him. When ever I buy a new camera I check to see if he has written a book on it and buy it if it is available

Excelente libro
