3.5 to 2.5 Hard Drive Adapter R494D 0R494D for DELL PC

Good SSD tray .

I bought this for my Dell Precision 3680. Although not listed as compatible I theorized that the caddy tray adapter makes a 2.5" drive fit like a 3.5" drive into the Dell provided hard drive caddy, and as 3.5" hard drive haves long been standardized it should fit the caddy in my machine. It does fit perfectly and so I am a happy camper.

I purchase several things on Amazon and was giving pretty in-depth reviews. From this point on, here's the new agenda…. if it works as advertised, is well made, meets or exceeds the description, is a value, and arrives in a fair amount of time, it will get a "star rating" equal to what my expectations were/are. If it doesn't meet these criteria, then I will most definitely and descriptively tell the short comings of the products and you as a consumer will not have to go through the trouble of buying the product without some background knowledge. If the sell pulls that item and relists under another description, I will put the exact same review on the seller's feedback page. Sellers have done this a couple of times in the past, and I was true to my word then as well as now. DR

Bought this to mount a SSD in my Optiplex 3020. I went to insert it into my HDD mount and found that the holes on this SSD mount were a touch too small for the pins on the HDD mount to fit properly and cause my HDD mount to warp a bit. I took a 1/8 drill bit and ran it through the holes on this SSD mount. After that, the pins on the HDD mount fit perfectly. A little miffed that I had to modify this before I could use it properly, but it fits and it doing its job perfectly now.

Got this for an old optiplex in order to fit a sata ssd into it since the main HDD failed, and it now holds one of those small laptop sized HDDs in this one piece alongside the sata ssd. Spectacular, and grateful something like this is still being sold for those of us looking to repurpose old hardware that still has some use left in it!

This drive caddy does not fit in the small drive bay of my Dell Optiplex 7020 tower. The drive bay measures 3.25 inches wide and this caddy measures 4inches wide. Unfortunately of the several I have tried to purchase there no actual measurements listed in their specifications. So I'm returning the caddy and will keep looking.
