Seachem Tanganyika Buffer 250g, Cichlid aquarium salt to increase water pH, buffer & hardness

Reviewing buffers is so tricky because, inherently, the reaction is subjective to your water chemistry. I've already got 8.2PH out of tap, I just wanted to chase perfect 9 for my shell dwellers.This did not work for me. Putting in the appropriate dose (or even double) for my tank got me to 8.8PH max and that'd be back down to 8.2 within 24 hours. I've had the same issues with the Seachem Neutral Regulator so it's probably just my water chemistry.But 2 stars for me because it's ineffective. I know for some others though it'll be perfect. So just bear that in mind when purchasing this.

Using this to augment the sand for Tanganyika shellies. Seems to work well, keeping the pH at ~7.5-8. If one is adding the buffer to an established tank with fish, I would start gradually, with small doses at first [as we lost a fish when dumping the entire dose in at once].
