Although it seems like an expensive purchase for something that just makes one thing. It works well and will last a lifetime.

After using it for the first time and attempting to wash it with hot water/washing-up liquid, the coating immediately started to thin and melt away, as you can in the picture. After drying, it stayed greasy and rubbed off easily. The coating seems to be very cheap spray paint.I'd personally consider this pretty dangerous as a result, and definitely not food-safe. Who knows how much would have come off gradually over time? I'll be contacting Amazon for a refund, and I advise anyone looking for a tortilla press to steer clear, and go for an unpainted - or just more reliable - one instead.

I was after an authentic Mexican tortilla press and I loved the presentation of the Mexican flag colours inside the box. As per the 1-star review person, warning about the safety of the material etc, you clearly are unaware that you need to protect the tortilla dough by placing either baking paper or cling film to make the tortilla. Your ignorance can give a bad reputation to something that clearly is safe to use. 😊
