Tight.
These work perfectly, but you really need to apply some pressure to get them to close on a 2" bar.

It does the job!
I bought these to use on barbell handles since spring collars get in the way when I do bicep curls. I picked these because they had good reviews, seemed reasonably priced, and they come in multiple colors. The locking mechanism is tight, which makes me feel safe doing overhead presses with them. Some reviews have mentioned that they require a good amount of force to unlock, which is accurate. For me, that is a feature, not a bug. But if your grip strength isn’t the best, you may be better off sticking with spring collars. If you use these on dumbbell handles and need to use a lot of plates, you may want to use them with longer handles to compensate for the greater width that these have compared to spring collars. In the future, I plan to buy another set for my barbell.

Am I just a wimp?
Product looks great and does it's job but I'll be damned if this thing don't give me a run for my money every time I have to unlock it. I mean its doable of course and I'm not saying I gotta break out the pliers or anything but usually when you're done with your sets, your arms are burning, your forearms could be super pumped and the last thing you want to do is wrestle with the damn clamps. I thought that it was just new and that it'll break in but its been a year and I hate using it because its so stiff. The ones at the gym don't ever feel like these. Maybe it just has to break in some more? Even though I said what I said on the headline, I am a sport climber. I don't think that my grip is weaker than average.

The 5* rating is for these relative to the price.
Firstly there are better collars available, but for 99% of people these will do the job perfectly. They are as good as ones I have in my gym from Strength Shop, but at a far lower price. Will they last as long? Who can say, but if they break in less than a year I'll come back and update this.I've been in the industry for 27 years, own a gym and am an expert in gym equipment, so I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of these clips.

Well impesessed
Like me you're probably fed up having a wrestling match with your gyms barbell clips, that just refuse to go on or off your barbell. Well not only are these a huge time saver but the sturdyness of the clip, the ease the open the clip wide enough makes sliding the clips on and off incredibly easy. I chose an obvious colour not associated with my gym to make it obvious they are mine and no one will be asking to borrow them. Let's just hope I don't forget them there :)

Brilliant - fits a 20kg Olympic bar
I needed clips for the Olympic bars at my gym as the clips available in the gym would often disappear (hmmm, I wonder where they were going!). So I invested in my own and they work really well. It took a minute or two for me to work out how they open but once on the bar they stay in place. A good buy for weightlifting.

Great for the price
I bought these because I lost a pair of lockjaw collars… Twice. These are very secure on the bar, but I believe that Lockjaw’s opening/closing mechanism is superior (it’s much easier to operate with one hand and it just feels “smoother”).These are still great though. If I had a home gym with multiple bars, I would use the lockjaws for major lifts (Squat, Bench, Deadlift, & Overhead Press) and I would keep and buy more of these Iron Lab collars for things like EZ Bars and loadable dumbbell handles.

Excellent collars
Bought an Olympic barbell recently that came with metal spring collars. Found them a bit of a faff to use so looked on Amazon and went for these locking collars.Seems very good quality and they're much easier to put on and take off. Clamps tightly too. Very happy with them.
