If you are really interested in the Illuminati and not the modern legend of the Illuminati then this book is for you. I have read the German version and read Singh-Anand's translation and find no fault in it. To get an accurate picture of the real Illuminati pick up this book and read it in its entirety. Pick up Melanson's book Perfectibilists and read only the history section of the Bavarian Illuminati. Lastly pick up Proofs of a Conspiracy by Robison and read only the reprints of the original letters by Weishaupt and Knigg. (Spartacus and Philo) This will give you the clearest picture of the order unbiased by fear mongering, legend and religious extremism.

Really cool account of the Illuminati, from one of it's most essential founders. Very interesting perspective!

If you want to know the true history of The Bavarian Order of the Illuminati, this is it. R. I. P. Jeva.

If you plan to read, or have already read, The Secret School of Wisdom, I definitely recommend reading this also. It really gives you a more complete understanding of the Illuminati history and one of the main men behind it. The book does suffer from some poor editing, in my opinion, but it is easily overlooked due to the important and interesting content of the book.
