Essential
An essential chart guide for electronic or paper charts. Even with electronic chart systems and satellite navigations, this flip chart is a useful all purpose reference.

Good quality
I really like this book because it contains all the details that are on the charts.Perfect to have a book onboard like this as a backup for when you do not have internet connections. I find this easier to read because I can just grab it when I am studying a chart that is up on my computer. So much easier than flipping though screens.

For paper or electronic navigation charts (ENC), this is THE ONE you need in print!
Written an printed by US government; this is the one in print you MUST have available at the chart table.Very well laid out and easy to find what you need, fast.Prints every 5 years or so (last edition was 2013 and "assume" this 2019 edition will go to reprint in 2024 or 2025). Also available "online" or PDF, but I find having this in print, by the chart table, to be very comforting, especially in any harbor I am not especially familiar with.EDC charts are great! But you better know wall all the dots, dashes, lines, etc. mean, or you will be "trading paint" with something.

Bought for a friend
Very interesting book. Bought for a friend who is planning to live on a boat.

No boat should be without a copy of this book onboard.
If you have to read a marine chart, you absolutely will want this book close by. I can't begin to memorize all the symbols found on modern charts, but with this book and a minute or two, I can look up whatever is baffling me. Frankly, I wouldn't want to be on a cruise without this reference manual. Very nicely printed and pretty easy to use. It's very straightforward and not burdened down with unnecessary BS.
