Best budget toner I've tried
I recently went back to bleaching my hair .(best decision I've made since the beginning of the pandemic - I love fun colors, but blonde looks good on me. I also chopped all my hair off, so whether I'm going through a phase or just manic? Who knows.) Point is, I wanted something to make it look nice and ... not yellow. I don't have money to go spend at a salon. It's extremely expensive to get your hair bleached by a professional - I have just enough money to buy box bleach and make questionable decisions. This does the job - for toning that is, does nothing for the questionable decisions - and leaves my hair looking blonde, not bronze. I will say that I do apply it differently than many people might. I have fine, thick hair. And while I did lob it off into a pixie cut thanks to Georgia having the temperatures of the Devil's nether regions, I'd still like to keep what little of it I have looking nice and fresh - not fried. This shampoo isn't exactly moisturizing or softening. It's a shampoo carrying a coloring agent. So.. I treat it as such. Don't be surprised by how dark the color is. I was at first, and only used it in the shower for about 5 minutes. It didn't do much for me. I came out looking much the same. I want to clarify once again, these are the decisions I make in applying this product - this isn't a recommendation. But it sure as hell works for me. 1) Starting with dry hair, I plop this bad bitch on with some gloves on. DON'T FORGET THE GLOVES. It will stain your hands - but not the rest of your body. My biologist mother would probably have something to say about it being the way your hand skin is different from the skin on the rest of your body. Science and I are casual lovers. 2) I leave it on for anywhere from 25-40 minutes. It really depends on if I forget to set the timer or not. I usually forget to set the timer. I'm typing this review while still forgetting to set the timer - yes, I have it on right now, and am continuing to choose writing this instead of rubbing my two braincells together. Don't be like me. 3) Shower time! Rinse it all out. You may notice your hair feels a bit dry - once again, this isn't a moisturizing shampoo. It's less than $20 on amazon, don't get your hopes up. Instead, go in with a moisturizing mask. My hair needs some serious TLC, and the best moisturizer I've found for myself is Shea Moisture's Purple Rice Water Strength & Color Care Masque. I leave that and my skincare mask on for about 5 minutes while i wash my body, shave whatever I feel up to shaving that day, you know the deal. At least I assume it's 5 minutes. You know by now my track record with timers. 4) Rinse that equally bad bitch out. Your hair will feel much much softer. I add this step now for my wonder bread cousins. Our hair can look oily as hell if we just moisturize it - it probably doesn't know how to be treated right because we were raised on 3 in 1 bodywash, shampoo, and conditioner. Forgive it. Be patient with it. Go in with a good quality moisturizing shampoo. I use my Function of Beauty shampoo, and then follow that slight rinse up with my FoB conditioner. I may be gaslighting my hair. It's okay, it looks fine at the end of it all. 5) After letting that conditioner sit for the normal amount of time I let any conditioner sit, which is usually about a minute or two. I then rinse it out til I don't feel sticky. Finish up my shower routine, and at the end I put in my leave in conditioner. It's also a FoB product. I swear by the stuff, but this isn't a review for that. I'm gonna run out soon, and I have enough depression as it is. Lets change the subject. You should have beautifully toned hair! I will remind you not to make any decisions on if you like it or not UNTIL YOUR HAIR FULLY DRIES. Your hair will always look more bronze when it's wet. When my hair dries it's a completely different animal, and thanks to me adding that conditioning routine, it's soft as well. If that sounds like a lot of steps... well, it is. Your hair doesn't work for free. But I promise it doesn't take long. If you think 25-30 minutes in the shower for your FULL hair and body routine is a long time, you may have other issues that need addressing. But hey, I'm not a therapist. At the end of the day, I LOVE this stuff. And it's a gigantic bottle. I mean, about the length of my small dog. I'll get a lot of wear out of this stuff. I don't recommend washing your hair every day, and I don't recommend doing this deep cleanse and tone more than once a week. Wash your body all you want, but let your hair breathe. Dry shampoo is your friend. 5/5 stars for affordability and function. Now let me go set my timer.

Great shampoo!
My colorist recommended this purple shampoo. It’s been working well. Keeps my color from getting brassy. Leaves my hair very soft and smells good too.

As a color enthusiast constantly seeking to maintain my hair's vibrancy, I recently incorporated Fanola Color Depositing Purple Shampoo Toner into my hair care routine. This transformative product has become an essential part of my hair maintenance regimen. Here's my in-depth review based on my personal experience with this purple shampoo. - Effective Anti-Brass Formula: The standout feature of the Fanola Purple Shampoo Toner is its highly effective anti-brass formula. Designed specifically for all hair, this shampoo works wonders in neutralizing unwanted yellow and orange tones, leaving my hair looking fresh and vibrant after each wash. I was impressed by how quickly and efficiently it removes brassiness, restoring my hair's natural brilliance with just a single use. - Intense Color Depositing Power: What sets this purple shampoo apart is its intense color depositing power. Infused with violet pigments, it delivers a rich and concentrated hue that effortlessly tones and revitalizes my blonde locks. Whether I'm aiming for a subtle cool-toned effect or a more dramatic platinum look, this shampoo allows for customizable results based on the length of time it's left on my hair. The versatility of shades achievable with this product is truly impressive. - Gentle and Nourishing Formula: Despite its potent toning capabilities, the Fanola Purple Shampoo Toner boasts a gentle and nourishing formula. Enriched with conditioning agents, it leaves my hair feeling soft, smooth, and hydrated after each wash. Unlike some toning shampoos that can leave hair feeling dry or brittle, this product maintains the integrity of my hair, ensuring it remains healthy and manageable with continued use. - Long-Lasting Results: I've found that the results achieved with the Fanola Purple Shampoo Toner are long-lasting, allowing me to extend the time between salon visits. Even after several washes, my hair maintains its cool-toned brilliance, thanks to the shampoo's lasting effects. This not only saves me time and money but also ensures that my hair looks its best between professional color appointments. - Ease of Use: Another aspect I appreciate about this purple shampoo is its ease of use. The creamy texture lathers effortlessly, allowing for thorough distribution throughout my hair. I typically leave it on for a few minutes to allow the color depositing action to take effect before rinsing thoroughly. The convenient squeeze bottle packaging makes dispensing the product a breeze, ensuring no product goes to waste. - Overall Satisfaction: In conclusion, the Fanola Color Depositing Purple Shampoo Toner has exceeded my expectations in terms of effectiveness, versatility, and ease of use. Its powerful anti-brass formula, intense color depositing power, gentle and nourishing formula, long-lasting results, and ease of use make it a standout product in the realm of blonde hair care. Whether you're a natural blonde or have salon-treated hair, this purple shampoo offers a reliable solution for maintaining vibrant, salon-worthy hair at home.

Great for highlights-keeps them from getting “brassy”
I bought this shampoo per a recommendation from my hairdresser to help keep my highlights from getting “brassy” in color. I use once a week (let set for about 2 minutes before rinsing in shower) and it has been great to keep the color blonde and tone cool! It is a little drying, so I follow up with my regular hydrating shampoo and conditioner or do a hair mask that day.

GIRL. You NEED this in your life.
I have naturally almost black, thick, Asian hair that is highly processed and toned to high heaven just so I can be blonde. Not just sandy blonde. Platinum blonde. Now, any “bottle blonde” knows that purple shampoo is the sweet baby Jesus in a manger necessity that they MUST use if they don’t want to end up looking like a wannabe ginger with greasy orange-tinged hair. It’s just that blonde life. I have tried almost every purple shampoo under the sun, ranging in process from $7 to $70 a bottle. The top contenders so far have been Davines Alchemic Shampoo in Silver, L’Oréal Shimmering Lights Purple Shampoo, and now, THIS. Fanola takes the cake and is hands down the winner when it comes to toning even the most stubborn brass out. Seriously. Your granny needs this. You need this. GIRL. Go buy stock in this company. The pictures really do speak for themselves. My package arrived sealed tightly - no mess at all. I think they caught on that they needed to fix the shipping method and it seems to have worked. I opted for the smaller $10 bottle, which is a steal! You get SOOOO much product! The shampoo itself is the darkest (almost black) purple I’ve ever seen. The consistency is a little more runny than say, Herbal Essences Shampoo. The smell is a little weird. Part chemical/black licorice being masked by a pleasant salon fragrance. It’s certainly nothing unbearable and it goes away as soon as you wash with your own shampoo. I’ve smelled way worse purple shampoos. This is pretty good. Now, the instructions and most people will tell you to wash with it and leave it for 1-5 minutes. I don’t believe in following rules. Duh. I tried it in the shower on wet hair and left it on for about 10 minutes. Great results after just one use! And then, because I love a little lavender tint, I tried it on DRY hair, saturating it until almost black, and left it on for a whopping 30 minutes. Rinse until clear. And guess what? I LOVE IT. The lavender is not at all over powering but there’s isn’t a hint of yellow/brass in my hair. I swear it even lightened my roots too! The pros: 1) Will definitely 100% work for you. 2) Absolutely does what it says and does it well. 3) Worth every penny (you get a ton of product). 4) You can choose the strength/umph. The Cons: 1) It WILL stain your hands. No really. Wear some gloves. Your welcome. It won’t really stain your forehead, ears, or anything. The skin cells on the palms of your hands are similar to those in your hair and unlike the rest on your body. So, don’t worry about anything else other than your palms/nails. Glove it up! 2) It is rather drying, as most purple shampoos are. Get a good leave in conditioner and glop it on after you rinse in the shower. Put some coconut oil up in there. Moroccan Oil Hair Mask seems to work wonders for me. 3) You will become addicted to having white/super bright blonde hair. Photos in order: After, during, before, before, before, the very first time I used Fanola for just 10 minutes.

THIS WORKS. IT REALLY REALLY WORKS! It's a TONER not a daily shampoo!
OK, you are looking at this product bc you are trying to get that brassiness out of your blonde or silver hair. Perhaps you're finally growing out your silver hair (GO YOU!) and you have had your hairdresser lift the color of your hair as blonde as it can go, or perhaps your grey/silver hair has weird yellow in it bc you visited your family at their farm and they use awful well water. So, you went to YouTube like the rest of us, and saw some brave woman use it. If not, you've got to do this too. You order this shampoo, this Italian Shampoo called Fanola NO YELLOW! (Say this with an Italian Accent - it's more fun). Now, do the following: 1) Get your Ipad set to music or a nice short tv show 2) Get little gloves so that this stuff doesn't stain your hands, but if it does, it will come out with some scrubbing. 3) Brush out your hair. 4) Open the Fanola NO YELLOW and say NO YELLOW FOR YOU! really loudly 5) The product smells like grape popsicle and chemicals. This is a good thing. 6) The product is deep black purple like raspberries. This is also a good thing. 7) Put that stuff all over the your hair, starting at the ends, and working up, depending on where your yellowish parts are, but ending up with it ALL OVER YOUR HAIR. 8) Gently brush or comb thru your hair to make sure it's completely covered. 9) Sit in your tub with some music/wine or movie. 10) Don't freak out as you see that there is PURPLE EVERYWHERE. EVERYWHERE. EVERYWHERE. It's sortof like those science shows that show you where all of the - well - the hidden fecal matter is in your house, but this is far less gross and more attractive. But still it's everywhere. 11) Relax in your tub. 12) Some people put this on dry hair, and left it for up to 30 minutes. I say start slowly like 10 at the most. 13) Ready to rinse? Good. Rinse like a demon. 14) Condition the hell out of your hair now, bc honestly, this product is drying and you will need a deep conditioner. 15) Say "FANOLA NO YELLOW! Three times loudly and in an Italian Accent." 16) Blow dry your hair (or however you do it). 17) Note your silvery locks. Look how much BETTER you look. Imagine how much MONEY you saved because you didn't have to go to the stylist and pay 40.00 for just a toning color that will rinse out in about 3 weeks. 18) You missed your stylist appointment anyway bc you got the flu and then you couldn't get another appointment bc it was the HOLIDAYS and YOUR stylist is more in demand than J Lo at the Superbowl. 19) Fantasize about breezing into your stylist after you do your own hair with this shampoo and say "Oh this? Oh my hair isn't brassy? Oh it's just a shampoo I use, bc you told me to use purple shampoo and well I just picked this one up." 20) Be happy that you aren't spending money trying to keep your own gray at bay and that you no longer are drying your hair RED bc that was so 90s and the 90s wasn't a great decade for you anyway. OK Better than the 80's but the 80's were just the shits for most people, hair wise. I notice that some folks say that this is a "fake product." My luck was excellent with this company. And the product came in perfect condition with no leaks or anything. Honestly if you get the same product that I did from this supplier, you should be OK. It WILL be DRYING to the hair! So don't forget to put in a nice conditioner. Then rinse it out bc if you leave in a condition that's not meant to be left in, your hair will suffer. Follow with a nice leave in conditioner. It's a terrific product. Just know it won't feel like Regular Shampoo. What to use between Fanola No Yellow? Some nice meek and mild Purple Shampoo, like Clairol Shimmer lights or Goldwell Purple shampoo? But when you need that Silvery Blast? FANOLA! NO YELLOW!

The Best Purple Shampoo I've Found So Far!
So thankful for the friend who recommended this to me. It works better than most of the expensive salon brands I have tried - it's a deep purple color but never leaves my hair looking purple. I usually shampoo with my regular shampoo and then again with this shampoo, although it cleans well enough that it can be used on it's own. My daughters and I all like it and we all have varying colors of light brown to blonde hair. One of my daughters is a hair stylist and she still uses this shampoo over some of the boutique brands.

This purple shampoo effectively removes yellow tones and leaves my blonde hair looking cooler and brighter. It works fast, smells nice, and doesn’t dry out my hair when used as directed. Great product.
