I couldn't expect it would look like the photo, as wood products vary in grain pattern wildly, but was a lighter color of wood than I had expected. Other than that, it seems sturdy, is lightweight and well balanced, and has a very nice gloss finish on it. Use this in conjunction with the similar one I got in the manuscript roundhand nib set I had bought. This is a beautiful natural wood product with a nice protective finish. Very comfortable to hold. Would buy again

The price on Amazon was cheaper than I have seen anywhere else. The metal to hold the nib holds the brause ef66 fine but I wouldn’t recommend if you are going to be swapping and adjusting the metal petal multiple times, the petals look a little flimsy.

Overall, this is a great straight pen, especially for the price. It has a good weight to it which helps keep it balanced. I have 2 that I'm using with a Hunt 22b and a Gillott 707 and both fit perfectly. For those who care, my pen was the color shown in the picture. I personally don't care that much about color (especially at this price point), but I saw a few one star reviews because the wood on some pens was lighter than some people had expected. I hope Amazon only takes the overall rating into consideration, which I gave 5 stars for. I gave 3 stars for begging just because sometimes a straight pen is harder to use than an oblique pen for beginners.

Great quality, nice diameter, well made, beautiful finish. However the varnish on mine had cracks. This would be fine (you cant see them at first barely) except for that if you accidentally get ink on the holder it will travel up the cracks onto your fingers and turn the cracks (in the varnish) black. It actually looks pretty cool now, but ink on fingers is not ok. So as long as you are careful not to dip the nib too far in, ink will not get on the holder and not be an issue.

This wooden nib holder is wonderful for flexible nibs . I love practicing calligraphy with my new nib holder!

I had my eye on a couple more expensive, handturned nib holders, but wasn't sure if I wanted a straight holder or an oblique one. The affordability of this holder helped me come to a final decision while also providing me with a tool to practice with. It's also lightweight and has a nice finish. I'm happy with the purchase.

It was demaged. The nib holding part at the tip was broken.

Veery n ice, and a bit light weighted for me, but that's just me.
