I was fortunate to be able to "test" sit at a Purple store near me, if able to try out for yourself first before buying, I would reccomend you do so. I was initially wanting to buy the Royal one, but after sitting on one in the store, it was not near as soft for my needs. I sat on this Double one and it was perfect.I have a fused back, with three vertebrae fused at my lower back with 6 screws and plates, I had bought a brand new Ashley Furniture brand office chair that seemed comfortable enough when I tried it out at the store, but for sitting for 7 hours plus a day, ended up being very uncomfortable and required frequent getting up and moving around. Rather than return the chair and invest in a super padded, very expensive Big N Tall one that would likely work for me, I thought I would try this option first. I am happy to report it made a night and day difference for my repaired back and I can comfortably sit all day in my office chair, and my back and rear end are extremely thankful for my purchase of this cushion.It is pretty heavy, but this is to be expected for a dual thickness Cushion, it is not overpowering but it does have some heft, and would likely be a bit of a nuisance if you wanted to carry this around for different seating situations, but is doable. It did have some smell upon opening as others have commented on, but it was minor and not overpowering. I just put it in my bathroom and opened the window for 24 hours. It fits snugly in the cover, I have mine smaller honeycomb side up (part you sit on) , and larger side down on the chair (as suggested). It does move around a bit on my office chair as some have also made note of. I will try some grip tape and see if that makes any difference.I am very happy with this Cushion so far, it fits the bill for my needs, and is very comfortable, it does compress quite a bit while on it, so the double thickness is not a issue for me as far as raising me up on the chair, I am 6'2 and over 200 pounds for reference, someone smaller and lighter may experience a bit of a lift in the chair while sitting on it.**Exceeded my expectations, as a side note the same Cushion in the actual Purple store cost $50 more than here on Amazon, and salesman said they would not match online prices even though this Cushion ships direct from the actual Manufacturer, so try on in store if possible, then buy here on Amazon to save $$.**

These Purple Pads help me in many ways. I have bad back pain and Sciatica issues for along time and have been using a Cooling Gel Memory Foam matress pad topper. We who use these though know that they don’t hold up for very long, especially if the pain is bad and you have to use it to relieve pain more often ( not just for nighttime sleeping, but daytime too) than you care to. It also very easy to clean and they last for a very long time. I have not had to replace any of mine. I have used every one of those chair pads with the cut out in the back for your tailbone, never worked for me.This Purple Pad has two sides, one with small squares (firmer) the other side has bigger squishier (still lots of support) squares . This is the side I prefer. It provides great support but just not as firm as the other side. It really comes down to your own preference. The case it comes with is wonderful. It’s not hard to put the pad in the cover and doesn’t slip on any surface, it really is great. There are those little bumps on the bottom that have amazing staying power, but still easy to pick up and move around. No sliding off the chair while sitting on this one. I have used it for many things, chair, wheelchair, bed anywhere I need it because it has a great handle on it making it very portable.My memory foam topper started wearing down and couldn’t immediately afford to buy another one so since I had a couple of these Purple Pads I put them under the topper and was blown away by how it felt ( wished I had thought of it sooner ) better than just using the memory foam until I could afford replacement.I have to say it really is helping with my pain but also the healing process. I sleep so much better too. Stretching is very important though too.This is my Con though (only on this purchase) … it was Used. There were some small rips and on one side discoloration (whitish) where someone had sat. I did buy it when it was on sale. Sometimes I find I get things used (rarely) that are on sale but say they are New. I was going to take a star off for that but it is the first time this has happened with this product. I just won’t buy when on sale, could be just an isolated incident, I hope. I do highly recommend this pad. Shipping was fast and packaged very well.
