Great for cleaning up a dirty pool!
We live in West Texas, where the wind and dirt are fierce. We bought a house with an older plaster pool, and it had a lot of dirt settled on the bottom. After trying for two weeks to vacuum it out, I looked into buying a robot. I was between a Dolphin and Polaris, as both were recommended by pool experts. I went with this Polaris, and my family nicknamed it "the 'lil monster". I'm sure the Dolphin brand is good, but I am very happy with this Polaris. It took about a week of running it almost every day, but it picked up all of the fine dirt off the bottom of the pool. The first few runs, there would be 1-2 inches of dirt in the filter...I should have taken before-and-after pictures. It is not perfect, as no pool robot is. It has a cord, so sometimes the cord gets tangled. If you don't want that to happen, you can get a cordless, but in my mind, they are not as powerful. I started it in the middle of the pool the first time, as instructed, and it spent the majority of its time in the deep end. Now I start it in the shallow end, and it runs equally across the pool. And no robot is going to come out of the water to clean your tile, or be able to wedge itself into corners. People who complain about those things, I think they have unrealistic expectations. This robot is awesome, and I highly recommend it.

Polaris was worth it
I bought one in 2021 after a dolphin ripped my liner.... swore I would never buy another robot but did because I was tired of vacuuming every other day... "Alice" (the robot) has been a cleaning machine for 4 full seasons this year....I got a blobkong error message. Oh NO! It is w a repair guy and hopefully can be fixed. Bought a cheaper (laughable at $499 being cheap) that is going back after a week it cleans nothing!!! So as im looking to prepare for bad news im back looking g at the one I have because I know how great it worked... where else can I get some to vac my pool daily for the whole summer for $200 a season (ar least that's how im justifying it)

Bad Customer service
I am very dissatisfied with the P825 because it gets stuck on top of the filter and does not work at all. If this happened only once, I could understand, but it gets stuck almost every third time. My second issue is that the rubber part, which functions as the front wheel, has come off a few times. The seller only provides simple answers, causing me to waste time. Polaris P825 has performed far below expectations. I send emails to technical support but receive no response. I make phone calls, but still, no one gets back to me.

power cord to control unit
Mechanically the vacuum cleaning unit is exceptional. Follow the instructions as in the owners manual and it finds all corners of the pool without winding up the power cable. Does a decent job cleaning my 20x40 inground after 2 cycles. I've a vinal liner, manual says to put the grip intensity indicator on setting 3 as I did and found it to be correct. So their R&D dept. is doing their due diligence. Now my issue....In my opinion, the first several inches of the power cord is not durable enough, and will peel off enough to expose the inner wires if the transport caddy, which holds the power unit, tips over. Bottom line is poor positioning of the power cord to control unit! That flaw is why my overall review is a 3, not 5.

Updated - Only lasted Four Years -
2025 Update - this unit lasted until this year. $900 for something that only lasted four seasons, in my opinion, is not ideal. I even paid for an extra year of warranty, and of course, 1 year from the warranty expiring, the unit stopped working properly. That said, when the unit worked, it did a great job. However, I had a Maytronics before this that lasted 8 seasons without issue. I still consider Polaris a rock solid product, but after searching the internet for solutions, this issue of the robot not moving after turning it on seems to be a common issue. I would hope that Polaris would address this and make products that last.Original Review from 2021:I'll be honest. I wasn't too happy with the price of this unit. I thought it was too expensive. However, all those thoughts started to fade away when I put this puppy in my pool and let it rip. My old robot had done an admirable job, but wasn't up to task for this season, (it broke). Rather than fix it, I chose to get this new unit. My pool was filthy when I put the Polaris in. After an hour and a half, I'm not going to say the pool was sparky clean, because it literally was a cesspool before it went it. The filter basket was full of gunk and there's no doubt that this unit was working hard to do its job. After cleaning the filter and letting it do a couple of more cycles, it had cleaned the entire bottom and sides of the 40 x 20 pool. No more visible algae or green crap on the bottom & sides of my vinyl lined pool. All the evidence that it was working was inside the super easy to clean filter basket. It also comes with this nice little caddy where you can put it after its done its work, coil up the 50ft cord, and put it away in a pool house, or in the shade.I did my research on this unit before buying it. It appears to be easy to get parts if needed and it also comes with a two year warranty. I went ahead and bought the extended warranty from Asurion for another two years. So my almost $1000 investment in the pool cleaner is protected for at least four years of worry free operation. Lets hope I never need to use the warranty and I do, that its in year four! ;-)

Good product
Bought a year ago and did not give rating until I had a full summer of use. Works great. Climbs the walls, cleans the bottom of the pool, easy to clean and store. Would recommend.
