Very solid arm and easy to maneuver. Mounting to the desk was a breeze. I simply clamped it to the edge without going through the grommet, and it's pretty sturdy. The clamp base that touches the top of the desk surface does have padding so as not to damage the desk, the bottom, however, does not. But I didn't have to tighten the bottom too hard for the arm to be sturdy. Mounted with a 28" Samsung monitor, and didn't need to make any tension adjustments for it to handle monitor movements. Overall, I'm quite pleased with this monitor arm. The only issue I had was that the vesa mounting screws that connect the back plate of the arm to the monitor were not deep enough to secure to the back of the monitor. I happened to find four spare screws around the home that worked - if someone facing the same issue didn't have spare screws, I can see them being easily annoyed or frustrated (it annoyed me a little bit, actually). It would have been courteous of StarTech.com to include a few different screw options to account for different depth lengths - it would only cost them pennies to do this. Having said this, the minor annoyance of the screws during the installation process doesn't detract from the functionality of the arm once it is installed, and that's the reason I maintained the five stars.

Pros:Sturdy, delivered early.Cons:1. Both the monitor mount and the laptop tray do not always remain on a level position whenever I change the angle. I have to find the perfect angle to make it levelled. In most angles, the monitor mount and the laptop trays tilts to the left.2. M5x12 screws do not match with the bolts. Useless!5. The biggest problem is the VESA mount for the monitor. It is on a diagonal position that it does not match with the position of the screw holes on the surface of the display. I had to interchange it with the VESA mount for the laptop tray which is positioned exactly according to the installation surface of the display. Why is the VESA mount for the monitor designed differently from the VESA mount of the laptop tray? Is this a manufacturing defect? Since the VESA mount for the monitor (which I interchanged with the VESA mount for the laptop tray) is positioned diagonally, I had to drill two holes on the laptop tray just to make use of it. Otherwise, the laptop tray would be unusable. Since I am not a technician, drilling the holes was tricky and difficult because the laptop tray is quite thick.
