The Revival Era. Bro William Branham the man of God
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. UPDATE: I purchased the Kindle Edition December 1, 2019, and is very pleased with respect to layout and seeing it exactly as is from the actual book pictures and all. I have absolutely no complain. My main purpose for buying this book is to read more of the 20th century Gentile Prophet Bro William M. Branham who is identified in the scriptures to come and gather his people for the coming of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. The Bride of Christ. The scriptures MALACHI 4:5,6; LUKE 17:30; REVELATION 10:7 and many many more scriptures shows us an end time messenger to reveal the word of God to us and bring us back to what we lost. This book was written to show us all the great evangelist of the '30s down to the '70s. Ministers like Bro William M. Branham, F. F. Bosworth, A.A. Allen, Oral Roberts, T. L. Osborn, Gordon Lindsay, Jimmy Swaggart, and many many more great ones in the past too numerous to mention.I had borrowed this book from an acquaintance of mine and read this book back in the very early '90s, but when I was browsing through the book their was an article which was missing and all the pictures was torn out. I never got to really enjoy reading the book in its entirety because of the missing pages. Somehow after all these years this book came back to remembrance to me, So I decided to pay a visit to Amazon a few weeks ago and said to myself, let me do a search and see if this book is available. To my amazement, Amazon did have several books of the same available. Their was new books and second hand books. I decided to go the way of purchasing a second hand copy of this book and I got one which by the way is a hard cover copy. It was reasonably priced and Amazon sourced it from Indiana for me.Delivery to my home was on time and truly Amazon description of this second hand book is amazing. On arrival I opened the book and found it to be in a very good condition and also found all the pages was intact, as was stated by Amazon. The sleeve of the book at the back had a very small tear and it was so, and also their was pencil underlined markings in the book which was also true. I was not disappointed at all when I received the book. Thank you once again Amazon.

Benchmark Historical Account of the Healing Revivals
Harrell has written what appears to be the standard reference work on the healing revivals of the 1940s and 1950s. His account tells a story of William Branham and Oral Roberts as the early giants of the movement, followed by literally hundreds of revivalists in the 1950s with thousands of miracle stories leading to the significant growth of Pentecostal movement worldwide. He includes objective and balanced descriptions of the triumphs, challenges, abuses and shortcoming of the movement and all its major players. He depicts the discord between the independent revivalists and the established denominations; the progress from humility to self-exaltation in its leaders; and the eventual denunciation of the movement by its initiators. Along the way we get clear short biographies on Jack Coe, A.A. Allen, T.L. Osborn, O.L. Jaggers, Gordon Lindsay, William Freeman and others. The reader is left assuming that there was some real move of God, but that the line between and the work of the Spirit and the efforts of prideful men has is painfully blurred.Harrell is clearly knowledgeable on the history of the revival. His work relies of primary materials (i.e. evangelists’ newsletters and magazines) and direct testimony/interviews adding credence to his accounts. Personally, the history of this movement is helpful to see where the present day “Prosperity movement” and “Word of faith” movements have come from. And while I completely reject these unfortunately enduring ideologies, I’m a bit more cautious and thoughtful in my critique, having now learned some of the backstory.

History of the Revivalists in America
I enjoyed the book. It was a positive blast from the past. The book contains detail information on a number of ministries related to the tent revivalist of the 20th century. If you are interested in the major ministries of this era, such as Oral Roberts, William Branham, A.A. Allen and Jack Coe. This book will be interesting. The author does not confirm any activities or claims by the ministries. This is not a book to persuade you of any form of doctrine or belief. It's a good view of the history of the tent revivalists in America from around 1900 to about 1975.

Meticulously researched, giving a brilliant, fair, and enlightening history
I read this book 10 years ago and found it be a gem. Having my own spiritual roots in "Pentecostalism," I felt that by taking direct quotes and doctrinal assumptions from the very leaders of the Healing and Charismatic Revivals, Mr. Harrell reported as objectively and concisely as any historian could. I also appreciated the aspect that one is able to ascertain the strengths and weaknesses, the upsurge and the downfall of those movements, not by the opinions of some outsider, but by simply watching the dramatic events unfold. If you were like me, you will walk away feeling as though you lived in the era written about and that you now have a better understanding of some of the Pentecostal/Charismatic practices in our day. This is also an important book for anyone who wants to study on the life and the death of revival, for indeed, this is exactly what Mr. Harrell shows us.

Good historic account concerning divine healing.
It is good to know the history of the great healing revivals that took place in the 40's and 50's, and the Charismatic, and Pentecostal movements from those times till now. We need to become more acquainted in this post modern time, with the "God Who Heals."

Great Book
FABULOUS! This is the best book I've read on the Great Healing Revival. It is both inspirational and motivational. It stirred my hunger for the reality of Christ. The issues of the ups-and-downs of the individual ministries were very informational also. Everyone who feels or has been called or ordained to evangelize or do missionary work should read this book.
