Love at first sight
Saw this made up at my fabric store and had to get it. I used fleece fabric to match the animals and left off the cloths for the quilt.

Extremely cute and easy.
I am a new machine embroiderer, though I have sewn for many years. I absolutely love making toys and dolls and have made many over the years. I have so far stitched out four of the animals in quilt block form without any troubles, and they are super cute! I mean, seriously adorable. No problems with the stitch outs at all! I have made two outfits with less success, mostly because I am learning about stabilisers etc as I go, again, no problems following the instructions or stitching out the designs.A note on sizes:I have a 6x10 hoop. That means I can stitch out a 6x8 rectangular quilt block with an animal (smaller size of animal) (size C square). I cannot however stitch out the folded fabric borders with my size hoop, and there are no sashing patterns provided, which has put me in a bit of a dilemma about what exactly to do with my quilt squares, since attaching them directly together doesn't appeal to me. The size C book cover on the other hand DOES have the folded fabric borders, but doesn't match with the rest of the squares. Maybe that's OK though. Perhaps I'll make a book instead. Those with a 5x7 hoop (size D) can only stitch the animal (larger size though) but not the quilt block. This isn't apparent on the packaging so just be aware. I suppose you could stitch out the animal and then manually piece and quilt... I originally thought this Size D would make a properly freestanding toy, but it lacks the tackdown stitch for the backing.Another, more practical issue puzzles me. There are EIGHT buttons and buttonholes per animal and tiny outfit. Any kids using this are going to have to be geniuses! They suggest hand sewing these buttons but I'm telling you right now that my sewing machine is going to get a workout.
