Putt Like the Pros: Dave Pelz's Scientific Way to Improving Your Stroke, Reading Greens, and Lowering Your Score

Great starter book for the Pelz methodology
Read this book many years ago and again about three years ago. Second reading really got me into the methodology. Led me to buying and reading the Pelz Putting Bible and Pelz Short Game Bible. My game is completely changed as a result (good not bad). I have purchased multiple copies of this book and offer up one to people I get paired up with on courses that seem to struggle with their putting and really want to improve it.

Bootleg Copy??
This bad review is not for the content of the book. It is for the quality of the book itself. The pages are scanned and poor quality. Makes it look like I'm reading it on a computer from 1987. You can see the scan marks. I'm not even sure if this is a legit copy?! Returning immediately and getting the same book somewhere else

It was a good book at the cheap price I paid
It was a good book at the cheap price I paid. Well worth the money, and does give some simple tips to watch for that can make you better. The always putt for 17" past the hole I have tried, and can't get used to. Makes me go too far past the hole. Like everything, would take practice and in the long run, you'd be better. His reasoning and book are a science, so no doubt it works. You just have to work with it. Book well worth the money.

This book was photocopied!
Yes, these pages were clearly photocopied. They are streaked and grey and show lines where the book was placed on the photocopier. Unfortunately, I gave this as a gift and didn't know about it or see it until after the return window had closed so there was nothing to be done about it. Embarrassing and weird. I bought a second book for me and that one was totally fine.

good info but poor quality printing
Many helpful tips on putting but the quality of the print is like a very bad photocopy. It's actually difficult to read. Nevertheless, I learned a lot about golf balls, greens, putters and how to practice!

Why Putting Greens Are Fickle
This is a great book on putting. I did not expect to find the attention to detail about how golf balls actually roll or the hidden causes for breaks on the green. Approached putting from an entirely different perspective. Interesting insights into the difference in golf balls and the actual unseen surface of the green from the balls view point. The author backed up his results with tests on all the points he was making for the reader. I will never look at putting or the putting green the same way again. This may not be the only book you should read on putting but it certainly adds clarity to the art of putting for the weekend golfer lg

Pelz on putting
NASA scientist and golf - seems an unlikely combination except as relaxation. Pelz applies his scientific mind to the other half of the golf game - putting - and comes up with a fascinating book in which this "scoring end" of the game is analysed in minute detail. While not all golfers will have the time to apply his suggestions (or see the need) it provides excellent reading and explains the difficulties, frustrations and joys of moving a 2.68" ball into a 4.25" hole.If readers enjoy this, there is a larger "Putting Bible" by the same author.PS If he's good enough for Phil Mickleson, he's ...

Very technical... Not for me
Very technical book. He knows his stuff but this isn't intuitive or 'feel' putting. I much prefer the Dave Stockton way of looking at putting. And the mental aspect of the game within a game. But for pros or technical nerds this book by Mr Peltz might be the best thing ever. But not for me. Shame.

Very interesting read
Dave has spent years using science to write solid theories. He shares them in this book. Even though the book is a few decades old his theories are still relevant. It has changed the way I think about putting.

Easy helpful read
Excellent book despite its age - that is my only concern, that some of the technology has changed regarding both balls and putters which will make parts of the book incorrect today. It would be great to get an updated version. That said it is an easy read and not an intimidating size like his Short Game book.
