Brings the Squanto to Life
I'm trying to bring the people and events of Thanksgiving to life for my children. Our field trip to Plimoth Plantation last year quite literally brought the Pilgrims to life! This year we're doing something a little closer to home.We are listening to The Legend of Squanto: An Unknown Hero Who Changed the Course of American History. The CD set brings the story of Squanto alive through the amazing talents of the Focus on the Family Radio Theatre actors.Listening to the voices and sound effects helps us imagine we were right there when Squanto became a slave, traveled to Spain and then England and finally returned home to find his entire tribe gone.Just to be clear, this is not an audio book. It is a radio drama, complete with actors and sound effects. Focus on the Family Radio Theatre always does a superb job of bringing a story to life in our imaginations. I whole heartedly recommend The Legend of Squanto! If radio drama is something new for your children, and you aren't sure if they will sit still for it, I have two suggestions. First, listen in the car as you drive around on errands. You'll find they don't want to get out of the van! Second, give each child a blank piece of paper or a coloring book and let them draw/color while they listen. Their hands will be occupied while they quietly listen.

Compelling!
If you’re familiar with the audio dramas by Focus on the Family, this recording doesn’t disappoint either. The dramatization creates a compelling experience, great for the audio learner and an enjoyment for all. I felt as if I was an eye witness to the events of Tisquantum’s life that reshaped his country that we now call America. Lessons of triumph over tragedy, honor, integrity, and the God-given ability to look beyond the color of one's skin and into the heart.

CD 1 missing
I ordered this CD in September for this school year. I added it to our shelf and didn’t think twice. We opened it up today to use it for the first time, and CD 1 is missing and instead a copy of the Transiberian orchestra is inside! We didn’t unwrap it until now so talk about a disappointment!

This Radio Theater production was excellent! This is not the reading of a book
This Radio Theater production was excellent! This is not the reading of a book, but the acting out of a story . . . like radio stories of years ago. With 6 children ages 7 to 15 traveling together, I wanted something interesting, educational and engaging for all ages. And I wanted something worthy of their time I found it in this "Legend of Squanto". It was well done and historically accurate. The kids loved it.

Very Well Done -- History That I Never Really Heard Before.
I have always heard how "Squonto" helped the Piligrims and was apart of the first Thanksgiving. But, I never really knew his life story. This 2 CD set is AWESOME!!! It has been carefully researched and Focus On The Family goes into detail about Squonto's life ( not wanting to ruin it for everyone, I won't say what happens ). What I can tell you is that it is my New Thanksgiving Tradition that I will listen to every year!!! It is EXCELLENT.

awesome production!
My 6 and 8 yr olds and I have fully enjoyed listening to this wonderful production. We enjoy listening during car rides as we travel on short trips. We homeschool so there are many occasions when we drive short distances to various locations for fun educational gatherings. The sound quality, voices and theatrical production are top notch.

Great audio for the family
I bought this for a road trip. I can’t speak to it being historically accurate or not. We really enjoyed it as an introduction to Squanto and the first pilgrims. Focus on the family radio theatre has not disappointed us.
