It is coffee
My go to for camping coffee was the coffee pouches from Trader Joe's. When they discontinued them I tried these as an alternative. The coffee is not as good and the process for making it is aggravating. With the coffee pouches I could start to break camp while the coffee was steeping. An added bonus was that on cold mornings you could warm your hands on the cup while cradling the pouch of warm grounds in your crotch. Fortunately the same Danish company that made the pouches for Trader Joe's sells them on Amazon under their own name for a higher price. But how do you put a price on decent coffee and a heated crotch.

Decent for travel, skip it for home
I got a sample of this at Natural Products Expo West and while it's not bad, it's not good either. I use large coffee mugs and this did not want to stay on it so I had to hold it. Also who drinks only 8 oz of coffee??? I want to meet this person. The coffee was weak but fairly smooth which was nice (and surprising considering it's pre-ground and getting hit with hot water from a tea kettle although I did let the boiling water cool for a few minutes to try and hit the correct brew temperature). You can make much better coffee at home so don't waste your money on this unless you're too lazy or in too much of a hurry to grind your own beans and brew coffee correctly. That said, for travel this isn't a bad option- the coffee isn't great but it's better than many office pots or cheap convenient mart options.

Make sure to open the inner pack as well
I grabbed these at the supermarket off the half-price rack to try out. My first attempt was pretty bad. I thought I followed the steps, but I missed the step of opening up the coffee bag. I confused that with opening up the outer wrap when reading the directions. The resulting coffee was watery and tasteless. After watching the video I realized my mistake and the next cup was delicious, if a bit mild. I used water almost to the boiling point and let it steep for 5 minutes. About 6 ounces of water. No bitterness. These are my new camping and traveling and make coffee at home for myself.
