The Expedition of Cyrus

Despite its size compared to other editions, it has a very informative introduction written by a leading expert in the field of classical studies, and the translation itself is accessible to modern readers.

This is a readable translation of an exciting adventure that is hard to put down. After finishing Xenophon, I took up Waterfield's translation of Herodotus's Histories, which is also an excellent adventure. I learned a lot from both works.

My father used to tell me about this story when I was younger and it is a must read for anyone who loves history.
