I am starting out and want a good bending tool ... can I use this for bending 1/2" copper pipe?

no 1/2" pipe has an o.d. of 0.840" this tool is fpr material with an o.d. of 0.500"

Will this bend 1/2 emt conduit?

No. The diameter is totally different between the 2 unfortunately. 1/2 tubing the O.D. is 1/2" as to where 1/2" conduit the I.D. will be 1/2" and the O.D will be around 5/8" iirc
