bound tight
i purchased an open box version to get it a little cheaper and had to settle for the design that it came with--a heart saying "little princess." luckily, there was a green heart underneath when i cut that one off. the zipper and snap flap at the top are still pink (think barbie pink) but without the princess text, my husband doesnt object to putting our son in it.i like this one better than the swaddlepod i got off my registry. both products are great, really. each has some advantages. swaddlepod: less expensive, while still easy to use. woombie: greater weight range (5-13 lbs vs. 5-10) and more secure. my boy is able to escape his hand out of the swaddlepod pretty easily but not so much his woombie. he was also born over 9 pounds and is past 10 now at one month so i'm glad i'll have the extra time with the woombie.i like these two better than the velcro variety that i also have. the velcro is REALLY strong and hard to do gently with a kid you want to put to sleep. it's enough to wake him back up. it's also easier to pass off the swaddling task to someone with the zipper. with one simple closure, it's less intimidating for those new dads or anyone who comes by to help. the velcro ones are more of a three step process.it's still expensive, hence 4 stars instead of 5. i do still plan on getting the large size later as i think it's a good product but i'm keeping my eyes open for a sale. get two or three. one is bound to be in the wash when you want it.

Both of my babies do NOT like this.
This is the second time I have bought an item like this and my 3 month old daughter does not like it. My oldest daughter did not like this product as well. I think it gives them too much freedom to move their hands around inside. I thought they would love this due to the freedom but I think just the opposite happened. I will be sticking w/our swaddle sack for now on.

Effective Calming During the Day
We've used the woombie for our daughter. She looks like she is in a straight jacket but it prevents her from startling herself when her arms and legs flail around. We've tried using it at night but the Woombie allows too much movement of her arms (compared to a more traditional swaddle) but it is great for calming her during the day. The fabric is soft and has enough stretch to giver her some ability to adjust. Our Woombie was white with a red and white heart - not the same as the picture but we don't mind. One other note - the sizing says for ages 0-3 months but it was too big for our daughter until she was about one month (it rode up over mouth) and still fits now that she is more than 3 months old.

Great woombie!
It's adorable and it should fit the needs of our daughter's soon-to-be-born baby -- based on the experience of our daugher-in-law when she used one with her newborn.
