This is in fact a genuine GM part that fits the front power outlet of my 2004 Suburban perfectly. Recommend that you use a lighter socket removal tool like the Dorman 56457 to more easily remove your old cover. It will save you lots of aggravation. This new cover will simply slide onto the power socket and snap into place.

Perfect replacement for my 2007 Hummer H3. The one on the right in my picture is the replacement part. There’s a Dorman tool that helps remove these cigarette lighters with less change of breaking them but even being careful, it’s still almost 20 year old plastic. Fortunately, these collars are still available. Insert this collar into the hole in the dash first. Feed the wiring through plug in the actual cigarette lighter. Then push the cigarette lighter back into the dash until it snaps into place. DO NOT put the collar onto the cigarette lighter before putting it into the dash, it won’t fit if you do it in the wrong order.

2019 Chevy express 2500 van. This replacement fit perfectly. Bit of a struggle to get the socket out but it can be done by an amateur. The best part is that the hinge is flexible so that when this one gets knocked while open, the hinge doesn't break like the factory original did.
