Sturdy and reliable. You want this one.
In my opinion, this is the best timer on the market. At my house I use 2 timers, both with 4 zones. I have purchased 3 comparable Melnor timers, all failed within a year, usually because the batteries get wet. This Eden timer is a clear upgrade. It is sturdier than Melnor, it uses FOUR batteries, and there is an excellent water seal keeping them dry. I now use 2 Eden timers, multiple Eden hose attachments. They all work perfectly.

Works perfectly
Took a while to get onto the programming a neighbor helped — now that I got it, it’s easy peasy — the rain delay is easy to set once you realize that when you keep scrolling to add minutes it changes to days — had an unexpected rain last night so the grass got watered again at 6 AM — I did get the sensor but haven’t added it to the programming yet so I can’t comment on it’s reliability or accuracy— have 2 zones set up (front yard and back yard) zone one is the far left outlet — if that’s in the directions I didn’t notice it — when you look at the display it cycles from time of day to next “on” time zone “x” then next on time zone “?” but it does not show all of the programmed times, so after a cycle it then gives you the other time that day if one has been set — bottom line is that you program it and trust that it will do what you told it to do and it does it — no regrets on this purchase

Yes set up is complex but that’s how it goes.
Invariably when I’ve seen reviews on timers like this they are very mixed. Many people think they don’t work or something is wrong with them.I can tell from reviews that lots of people don’t read the instructions carefully. No doubt these kind of “multi zone”, highly flexible programmed timers aren’t the most intuitive. This one requires that you “first” select days to water (like min, tues, wed) but later when setting zones has you chose “every 1 day, every 2 days, etc).If you chose every one day, but don’t set the days to water on all the days of the week you’re going to run into trouble. With all techy things, where flexibility comes in (multiple zones, multiple time options during a day, multiple day options, etc) things can be confusing. You simply MUST read the instructions. I always recommend reading through the setting instructions FIRST before you try to do it. Reading while actually doing it, can lead to mistakes.I’ve been using these for some years. Sure they only last maybe 2-3 yrs tops, but in Florida that’s all you can hope for. They’re outside and the elements take their toll.Personally though I’m happy with them and I’d buy again in the future as I’ve purchased replacements in the past.

UPDATE on review "Works great for a year...only a year"
The Eden company was swift in reaching out to me after my negative review of the digital water timer. The very same day they sent me a form to fill out with the info about the problem and then a real person got back to me the same day with a suggested fix. It worked and can go back to being a happy gardener.I purchased this for the 2022 gardening season and it worked like a charm. Didn't use it Oct-April 2023 and in setting it up for this year's garden, zone 4 is not working. Not very good value for the $75 it cost last year.

Good Value for four zones
Programming is not very intuitive, but after setting it up it works great. Nice to have four zones that can be programmed to repeat up to four times a day. Trying to keep new grass seed wet. Once a day wouldn't cut it.

Pretty good
To effectively use it, you have to use a smart phone and buy the separate controller. It's very effective but does take some time to figure out. The instructions and details aren't super clear.

This is my third
This is my third timer in as many years. Get the extended warranty. Plastic does not wear well in Texas, but with our heat and drought, I would have a much lower success rate without a timer. I suggest not hooking this directly up to the spigot. I put a length of hose between the spigot and this timer and lay the timer flat on the back porch and then attach the hoses. This keeps pressure off of the ports and they will last longer without cracking and constantly leaking. Just make sure you aren't going to step on it, pull the hoses that are hooked up to it or trip on this hose assembly because any of those would break the timer and you have to go spend another $50 on a replacement. I will never buy another without a warranty extension. It's a necessary evil.
