Food Allergies: SOLVED! YESSSSSS!!!!
Allow me to introduce you to Mr. Monty: my 8-month-old Persian kitten in photos 1, 2, and 3.Miss Money Penny: My 8-year-old Tortoiseshell Persian Cat in photo 4.MEOW!On February 4th, while I was brushing his teeth, I noticed that Mr. Monty was developing an Indolent Ulcer on his upper left lip, consistent with a FOOD ALLERGY (photo 1)!An Indolent Ulcer is SERIOUS. It's necrotic, meaning the ulcer could literally eat straight through his lip if allowed to continue! As a Persian Mom for 24 years, I have been feeding ALL my fur babies Purina Fancy Feast canned and Hills PRESCRIPTION Diet Digestive Care id dry Chicken flavour (expensive AF, available only through a licensed vet) with no problems... or so I thought...so off to the vet we went.Mr. Monty received an antibiotic shot and a prescription for Prednisone drops. The vet told me what I already knew...FOOD ALLERGY. But to WHAT particular ingredient? The vet suggested I only give him Chicken Fancy Feast canned along with the expensive Hills Prescription dry. Prednisone drops for 2 weeks. No beef, tuna, etc., I could see it now... the ulcer returning, MORE Prednisone, more food waste, more upset tummies from the food change, more nose-turning, more diarrhea, more expense, more suffering...POOR BABY MONT!!!!! :(On the way home, it occurred to me that a friend of mine was taking Prednisone for a WHEAT GLUTEN ALLERGY. I already knew that grains, especially WHEAT and CORN are NOT a natural part of a cat diet and are used as "filler" in both canned and dry pet foods. These "filler" grains are used in varying degrees depending on the manufacturer. This could possibly explain why kitty gets "The Trots"...diarrhea...when you switch brands/flavours. By-products are also a culprit. Hmmmmm.......Research time!Mr. Monty's condition made me STOP MISTAKING PRICE AND NAME FOR QUALITY.After reading the label's list of ingredients, I noticed that:ALL of their food, their Fancy Feast canned and most surprisingly, their $65-a month Hills PRESCRIPTION Diet contained WHEAT GLUTEN, GRAIN, by-products, along with BEEF, TURKEY, AND/OR FISH INGREDIENTS!!!! I was livid!Online I go!Key words: "LIMITED INGREDIENT""GRAIN FREE""NO BY-PRODUCT"food. Canned OR dry! After over an hour of searching and researching labels, affordability and ingredients of nearly all non-prescription cat food online, I found it!PURINA BEYOND NATURAL ORGANIC.Immediately, I ordered TWO 12-packs of the chicken and sweet potato along with a 3-pound bag of the chicken and egg dry as a "Starter Pack" from Amazon. It arrived a few days later and I gave it a go...I put a small amount of their old Fancy Feast Grilled Chicken in a small dish AND a small amount of the new Purina Beyond Chicken and Sweet Potato in another. I put a small bowl of the new Purina Beyond Chicken and Egg dry alongside their usual Hills Prescription dry.IMMEDIATELY, they BOTH went for the Purina Beyond and devoured it, totally ignoring the Fancy Feast. I did this for 3 days. Both cats. Same thing. AND...NO DIARRHEA!!! Awesome!Buh bye, Fancy Feast!Same thing with the dry food:I was refilling the bowl of Purina Beyond Chicken and Egg daily while the Hills Prescription Diet dry just sat there collecting dust for 5 days until I finally dumped it (wait until the vet hears about THIS, lol).UPDATE:"He's a big boy now"! :)Mr. Monty celebrated his 10-month birthday on March 15th. Today is March 27th and he has a clean bill of health. The Indolent Ulcer? G O N E!BONUS:The fur under his chin is pure white and now STAYS pure white because PURINA BEYOND IS FREE FROM ARTIFICIAL COLOURING. Gone are the 3x a day wiping routines with me trying to eliminate the "Yellow Beard" syndrome (from the UNNECESSARY ARTIFICIAL FOOD COLOURING in his old foods)! He's one handsome Tom, wouldn't you agree? As for my Beauty Queen, Miss Money Penny:She stopped having those worrisome intermittent sneezing bouts! She didn't need her "as needed" prescription antihistamine since I switched to Purina Beyond! Her eyes used to tear up A LOT prior to switching to Purina Beyond.Well, look at her NOW! Those beautiful golden eyes remind me of an owl...all big and bright!Awesome. Simply awesome.PS: I've donated their former cat food to my local shelter.>50 cans of Purina Fancy Feast and 4 1/2 bags of Hills Prescription Diet id Digestive Care. XXX

Chloe loves it
Cat loves it. Is ph sensitive, so I buy this as a break between the normal low ph foods. Good value.

cats love it too much......A+
Both of my cat's favorite food. I use the most expensive dry cat food made with duck that they like. But give them this too many times they don't want to eat dry cat food. I give them it every other day.

In the seemingly never ending quest to keep our 21 year old orange tabby interested in food I decided to try this chicken and carrot combo. I opened the can and offered her a small amount in a dish. She ate it all then sat down and waited for me to dish up some more. She normally only eats a teaspoon of food every two hours throughout the day but the first day she ate half a can and came back two hours later for the other half. Stuff is not cheap but if she likes it I will buy it again.
