You need this if you chip your truck
The only reason to run a gauge like this is if you're running more fuel than stock. Meaning, you've got a 6 position chip or a hydra or similar. If you are, an exhaust gas temp gauge is absolutely crucial to ensure you don't melt you engine down. Install the sender in the driver's side manifold prior to the up pipes. I pulled the manifold to drill/tap the fitting and would recommend you do so as well despite internet recommendations of doing it in place. I figured the chance of metal shavings in the exhaust pre-turbo wasn't worth risking. If you're running this on an OBS Ford, you'll quickly realize more fuel = more power = more heat. The best remedy is to intercool it, be it Banks or modifying a later intercooler to work. I saw about a 300F drop via a Banks kit on this gauge.

Perfect factory match
This gauge matches my 2004 Ford F250 Super Duty perfect. Gauge looks very good, and construction feels solid. The gauge reads smooth, the needle does not buzz or jump around at all.Comes with temp sensor, plug adapters, wiring harness, literally everything needed. The temp wires and stainless braiding were long enough for me (even from A-pillar all the way through firewall, across engine bay, and to passenger-side exhaust manifold) but the power and ground wires I needed to extend a little bit. Very easy, didn't bother meThe brightness is about the same as the stock gauge cluster. Also has a dimmer wire to dim with the factory dial.Pics are in my 2004 Ford F250 6.0 Powerstroke. Both day/night pictures are at full brightness, but a camera never gives you a true "in person" story

Pretty disappointing
Pretty disappointed. I always have high hopes for Auto Meter gauges, but they always seem to die prematurely. I had this gauge installed on my tractor for 2 weeks before it quit. I can understand a gauge giving out after 5-10 years of use, but every aftermarket pyrometer Auto Meter I’ve used has lasted no longer that a year. Time to start looking at other brands I suppose.

Auto Meter 8444 EGT for 2006 F350
I added this Auto Meter 8444 EGT gauge to my 2006 F350, for monitoring the abuse I give my turbocharger. Thankful I did! On the maiden voyage (drag run), I found that at peak shifts I've been near 1,350 degrees. The gauge installed easily and works flawlessly. Be careful when routing the wires as not to bend them excessively, their 18GA. Do yourself a favor and order a Tap-A-Fuse and the GlowShift EGT drill bit & tap kit. I chose to mount mine on the column and there was plenty of length left in all of the wires for other mounting locations. Very happy customer and I would buy it again.

8444
Matches the factory gauges in my Excursion great. Install is easy. People say these are too bright but I strongly disagree. Mine are mounted on the A pillar and they are just right.
