Great Knife Set! I'd put them up against a set costing 10x as much...Really!
I still have some Ginsu knives that I bought for use in College (40-years AGO!) and they still work without ever sharpening. These Knives look to be of the same heritage as those (even though they are made in China). Time will tell, but I really like them and they are well balanced, very sharp, and solidly made. I am not a professional chef but I do a lot of cooking and my old High Price (but High Quality) German knives were just not cutting it any more. These Ginsu's do the job they do for a tenth the price! Even if they don't last for more than a couple of years, I won't be too upset throwing them away knowing I paid less than $25 for the set of five knives. Well worth the money. The enamel coating on the blades makes slicing cucumbers, cheese and other clingy foods slide right off the blade. Additionally, the bottom length of the blade handle is made of a silicon-rubber material so gripping and controlling the knife is very easy and secure! If these knives were to ever get lost, I would buy another exact set. Biggest complement I can ever give any product.

Nice!
Quality knife set for the price point. Not the sharpest knives on the planet, but adequate for cutting food like fruits and veggies. Love the serrated edges and the santoku is my new favorite smooth edge knife. The all black coloring is a nice touch and the handles are sturdy and comfortable to hold. I would buy these again! Just be careful opening the package...I cut myself on the sharp plastic, not any of the actual knives themselves lol

FOR SURE!
Great knives. Replaced all of my old ones. Cheaper than re-sharpening. Would get again, but they last a long time.

What's not to like about a Ginsu?
I am not a professional chef. Or an aspiring chef. But I do love to cook and I prep a lot of vegetables so I appreciate a nice, sharp knife. I have decent, professional knives, but they are all hand-me-downs and therefore not terribly sharp. I invested in a good knife sharpener, but I think these knives just need a quality professional sharpening to really hone the edge so that my maintenance keeps them sharp. My problem here is that I'm too lazy to invest in quality time spent sharpening my knives or locating a professional sharpener and paying to have them sharpened. I already own several Ginsu knives in my collection and they are my favorite knives because they do not need to be sharpened. Ever. So, I looked at professional chef quality Ginsu knives - meh, it's going to be the same issue. They aren't advertised as 'forever sharp'. And, they are a bit spendy. But then I came across these Ginsu 'never needs sharpening', black ceramic beauties! I loved the price, so I took a chance. When I pulled them out of the packaging, the first thing I did was stab myself (not intentionally) and the knife pierced my skin like hot butter, drawing blood. Not a good first start for me, but a ringing endorsement for how sharp the knife is. Next - I experimented with them by cutting various items in the kitchen that are always a challenge - tomatoes, pickles, onions, frozen meat, and hard cheese to name a few. Wow! Am I pleased. These knives are very sharp! And...they look great on a knife magnet hanging on the wall ;) The handles are a cheap plastic and while this may sound like a 'con' (of pros and cons), the bottom of the plastic handle has a grippy texture so I was able to hold onto the knife with confidence and without a death grip for fear that it would slip, and I would drop it. Or worse… If I had to lament one thing: they are not solid, heavy and well-balanced like a good professional chef knife. But I don't intend to throw these knives at a tree or in a circus act, so heft and balance are not my top priorities. I'd have to say - 2 thumbs way way up (but not while holding one of these knives lest I cut my thumbs off). The incredibly affordable price means that, even if these knives don't last a lifetime, they are inexpensive enough that they are easily replaceable.

Very Sharp and Elegant
The 10 piece block set (GINSU Black Ceramic Daku Series) is a fine set of kitchen knives with an elegant look for the price. You can spend hundreds and get heavier knives, but when setting up for a small kitchen where space is at a premium, you get a nice group of 8 serrated-edged genuine GINSU knives (Chef, Bread, Paring, and Utility, plus 4 Steak knives), along with a razor sharp 9th straight-edged Santoku knife, and a nice black-wood display block to round out the 10 piece set for the countertop. We know they're dishwasher safe, as many other Daku Series owners have confirmed, but we actually prefer to hand wash and dry all of our cutting knives to make them last even longer. This is a good purchase and we're happy to have made it.

Really good knives
These knives make preparation of meals so very much easier. They are super sharp and easy to use and light. They fit well in your hand. Do not rust and a great value for the money. I plan to use them forever.

Great value for the price. I would buy again but they are still going strong.

Very nice knife set, great steak knives
Very nice knife set, great steak knives. I have the original Ginsu set of knives from 36 years ago that I still use (downstairs at the bar or as a second set of knives to put out at a party). I also have the Showtime 2 set from 25 years ago. And I have this set. The handles on this new set is much nicer. The steel, the sharpness, all three sets are the same. Very sharp year after year without sharping the blades. And now these are black/Teflon coated stainless steel. And dishwasher safe; like the others. But I don't like the block of wood that comes with the set to hold the knives. But these are great knives. I am using my Showtime 2 block for my new Ginsu knives in my kitchen.
