If you just want a little freshen up use it like you would a bathroom air freshener and spray a few shots on the floor or upholstery. Just don't depress the button completely. Under the seats is a good place if you're concerned about discoloring materials. I take a two week long trip every year with friends that enjoy smoking cigars on the 26 hour drive. I normally do not smoke in my vehicle, but allow on that trip. I change the cabin air filter and use a full can per instructions on my return. The odors are gone and the truck crew cab is fresh again. These are easy to use, work very well. During regular activity I use one every couple of months. Work great to neutralize dog odors too - even a wet retriever.

Worked pretty well in a vehicle that had light smoke odor. After about two weeks when the sun breaks on the car for a long period of time, there are still some slight traces of odor, but this will work fairly well if you do it every month or so.
