How to Self Publish an Adult Coloring Book on CreateSpace: An Intermediate Author's Guide

Excellent resource.
I am a 20-year graphic designer but new to the adult coloring book creation world. In my opinion, this book is well worth the price. I just received this book today and I've already read over half of it. The information is extremely informative, but it is not so densely written so that it is not easy to absorb and assimilate, and want to read more. The information in this book is easily and quickly applicable. This is a real resource I will use regularly. It does not go into extremely technical details of preparing your files but it gives you a very, very good overview, so that you can do what you need to do. It also shows real-life examples of the printing differences in how Create Space's publishing responds to vector, raster at various dpi. There is additional information on marketing and resources, as well as info on the inner workings of Amazon. This is a gem of a book and I definitely recommend it. It is a great price as well. $8 bucks for all of this info at my fingertips, and compiled in a book that I enjoy reading. Thank you, Jason, for publishing it!

Like having a friend walk you through publishing your first book
This book is thorough and concisely deals with a very complex topic in an orderly fashion. I was able to read it in two sittings and will be referring to it as I work through publishing a book. Written for people who have some experience with computer and software, it's written in an easy to understand, accessible language. It discusses various pros and cons for publishing platforms and other options, giving figures and specific examples where necessary. This book makes the whole publishing process feel accessible and doable for inexperienced CreateSpace users. The author shares what did and did not work for him - it's very useful to be able to learn from his experience. This book is like having a friend who's been there before walking you through the publishing process. Highly recommended.

Good info on graphic manipulation...
I downloaded this book on Kindle so I got nearly instant delivery. I paged past a lot of 'probably helpful' publishing stuff and went to the pages talking about the manipulation of the graphics. I have used photoshop for years and occasionally used illustrator but I am going to download the new Illustrator for this book. All of my drawings are hand drawn so I am particularly interested in making them better for print. I've published through Create Space before and it's a crap shoot to get good image results so I'm hopeful his tips will pan out. My largest concern with publishing through CS for this book is simply that I drew the images at size for a 10" x 10" square book as this is a very popular size. CS won't let me achieve that size so I may go back to a local printer instead. I'm debating it. I expect I will print out my images after I fix them for and 8.5 x 8.5 book and see if they are too small. So, I am giving the book 4 stars because the content didn't immediately point toward Create Space centric material. A 'how to' book shouldn't start with deciding if you should do something, just HOW TO do something. I'm attaching one of my drawings. My coloring book should be out in a few weeks. You can find me on Facebook under Fay Romesburg. I will be posting a coloring book page on FB soon so friend me!

Great book if you want to learn the nitty gritty details of creating coloring books without spending a fortune -- forget about those expensive seminars that want you to pay more and more and more! This breaks down the steps to publishing with easy to follow details. It guides you through publishing a quality coloring book, even giving ideas where and how to promote your finished product. The author addresses where to upload, how to upload the files and even intricate details such as how to increase your look inside the book feature, tips to avoid interior and cover production problems and there's a simple to follow tutorial on how to improve your images for the final book.

Very Helpful Guide!
Very helpful and comprehensive guide to getting your coloring book published on CreateSpace. I picked up a number of helpful hints in areas that I was not sure of. This is not a step-by-step how to book but rather something to follow along with as you create your book. Very important information on how to create the best looking drawings is included as well as recommended sizes and some links to cover templates.Contains helpful sections on alternatives to CreateSpace publishing and their positives and negatives.Has an informative Marketing section and be sure to check out the FAQ section at the end as any questions you have may have an answer there.Loved it!

Invaluable!
When I started creating designs for my recently-published adult coloring book, I had no idea where or how to publish it. I saw this book, purchased it, and it was the best thing I could have done. This book was invaluable from start to finish. It was very detailed, walked me through the processes of publishing on CreateSpace from the resolution, layout and specifications of my book, and also copyrighting my work afterwards. Now I'm a published author and am very happy with the result. Thanks Jason for taking the time to write this! Would definitely recommend to any artist looking to publish through Amazon.

Great Book -- But Frustrating Formatting For Kindle
This book has a lot of great info in it. For anyone wanting to self-publish a coloring book they should definitely check it out.However. The one thing I don't like about it is a technical one regarding the Kindle version. The way it is formatted is not ideal for Kindle reading and is very hard for me to read because of that. With most Kindle books you expect to be able to change things like the text size (that's a must), plus the page color for things like night reading, bookmark pages, highlight favorite parts, etc. With this book you can't do any of those things because the pages are more "static" (like a picture or pdf file or something), so you can't change the size of the text. Which makes it Extremely hard to read on my phone with my Kindle app. I have to enlarge to whole page to make the text large enough, then drag it back and forth to read it. It's awful. But I the quality of what it does say makes up for it.

Five Stars
Extremely helpful book detailing how to self publish in general on CreateSpace, not just coloring books.

Not a step by step book.
I was disappointed that I would need more computer skills than I had to publish my book. That being said, the book review did say that is was not a step by step guide. I may still find this book very useful.
