Happy so far!
So far so good.... The flute arrived as pictured and I can get a nice tone out. I am new to playing the flute but had been playing the recorder for 20 years. I compared it side by side to the rentals I have, as my Daughter and I are learning together. Compared to the Gemeinhardt and Bundy Rental the rods seem slightly flimsy and the F key did not work on first trial, might have been the little red bumpers that are put in between the keys for shipping. However I played for an hour yesterday and it works fine now.The gloves and grease are not needed. I would never put grease on a flute. I also don't use the cloth that came with it. It's a bit stiff and I use a microfiber cloth. I cleaned the flute on the inside before playing for the first time, it had some black residue, like silver that is tarnished inside, so I took my microfiber cloth, wrapped it around the cleaning rod and cleaned each piece first. I am also very carefull to only hold the flute where there are no keys as to not bent anything. I hold the flute that way when putting it together. The pads seem ok and so far I am happy with it. If it lasts me a year or two then it was worth the $65.

Try It For Yourself.... Beautiful Instrument
I purchased the Flute for my 10 year old daughters 1st year of band (5th grade). I had the option of renting one from a music store which the school had chosen. I order the instrument and the monthly fee was $31.50 a month, where this was reasonable, I calculated the amount I would pay for rental over a 10 month time frame and found it cheaper to purchase a new one. I had not returned the one I rented to the music store when my new one arrived. I compared the two and saw no difference other than the stores hard carrying case and the soft cloth case the new one came in (no difference). It even comes with a Tuner which scared me because I know nothing about tuning an instrument. I called the music store I rented from and upon return of their Flute they made the slight adjustment needed (tuner not really required, but an added bonus). I am complete satisfied with the product, like anything you purchase you must take care of it. The best part, my daughter loved the Purple Lacquer Color, she feels kind of special because she is the only one in her class with a purple flute :O)

Amazing Buy!
First off, allow me to say that I absolutely LOVE all my instruments made by Mendini by Cecilio! I have a piccolo and now a flute made by them and I find that both are absolutely amazing. The flute is of a great quality: it stays in tune, it had a very nice nickel color, and I have had no technical difficulties with it whatsoever. I rented a Yamaha flute retailed at over double the price of this flute and I discovered that this flute I purchased stayed in tune far better than the more expensive Yamaha! My word! That was absolutely amazing! For anyone interested in learning to play the flute or have already learned and just enjoy playing on an excellent quality instrument, I would recommend this Mendini flute without reserve and hope that they too could enjoy the pleasure of making music with such a great instrument. (P.S.: No, I do not work for Mendini. I don't even know where they are based or anything. Is Cecilio like a real person, because if he is, I'd just like to say 'Thanks' for all the good work you've done for the music community!)

But after reading the many good reviews (and a few negative ones)
I bought this flute two months ago. I knew there are risks to buy a flute in this price range. But after reading the many good reviews (and a few negative ones), I decided to test my luck. If it can last six months, it would be worth the money. It looks great since it is brand new. However, the F and F# key didn't work the very first time we tried it. I was too busy with work during that time and missed the return deadline. After reading some reviews about the warranty service offered by the manufacture, I decided to take it to a local musical shop to get it fixed. The flute technician tried to adjust a screw but since it is so cheaply made, the screw just exploded. Luckily, the technician made the F and F# work, for now. and he didn't charge me a penny. I guess this is a wiser decision than sending it back to the manufacture.I hope it will last for a few more months. If it broke again, I will just get a new one.

Worth it.
My son is in middle school band and plays the flute. I saw this and had it in my wish list for a few months, checking reviews and the manufacturer. All I need to say is I should have bought it sooner. The price made me wonder about its quality but after seeing the flute in person I am very impressed. We had rented a flute for the past 2 years and this flute is as good or even better than what we had rented and the price is a third of what I had already spent on renting. And the bonus items just add value. I dont know how to tune a flute but my son does and the stand is better than laying the flute on a table or chair. I was a little worried about the "soft" case but its not really that soft. Its a formed fit and cloth coverd but has a shell inside that I think will stand up to a few drops and ridding around in my sons bookbag. All in all, very much worth it.

Not best quality but good for price
This flute wasn't best quality, but the price is good. Most flutes at this price are not silver plated, and tarnish quickly, but this one is. Had it for a year and it hasn't gotten tarnished, and the sound is pretty good but not as good as others of course. But case was low quality and tuning rod was plastic not metal. I love that it comes with a tuner because they are 15-25 dollars for those. Overall its ok but not best flute ever.

Great for one new to the flute
Bought this for my daughter in high school who decided she wanted to play the flute now instead of alto sax. We would have paid the same amount to rent one from the school. Now she has her own, and her little sisters can use it when they are older if they want. For now she plays around with it until we do some lessons over the summer, but this is a very nice looking flute and comes with a lot of extras. Even her band teacher said this was a nice one to get.

A Joy to Play
With smooth action and excellent tone this flute is a joy to play. The pads seal well. The mouth and body pieces have protective plastic caps for when the instrument is not in use. The color is more vibrant than in the photos. Shiny. The case has adequate padding and protection for normal circumstances. A cleaning rod and cloth are included. There is one pair of white gloves. (No, don't use them to play. You might drop the instrument.)It took a moment to figure out the stand. The upright part unscrews, the legs need to be pulled down and then the end is screwed down to secure the legs. It makes a stable base but one that slides on smooth surfaces. The only issue was the songbook for clarinet instead of flute. My interest was the instrument and its stand. The tuner was a nice bonus for me but I haven't bothered with it yet. Batteries (2 AAA) are included.

Awesome value
Got this for my daughter for band class. The teacher warned me that sometimes non-school instruments are less durable and don't last long. Well its been over a year and it's still going great. Way cheaper than renting one and it looks amazing.

Save your money and buy a better quality flute!
We bought this flute for our daughter, the quality of this product is not very good. After a very short period of time (less than 3 mo.), one of the keys leaks. You have to press hard to make the notes sound and the keys are very noisy overall. Would not recommend this product to anyone...save your money for a better flute, preferably from a local shop. That way if there are any issues, they can address, repair or tune for you. You get what you pay for, lesson learned.k
