Vanicream Vaniply Ointment for Dry Skin Care/Skin Protectant, 2.5oz (Pack of 3)

If you’re like me and look like you’re headed into a wrestling match at bedtime then you know the struggles of of wearing retainers and mouth guards. I wear a lower retainer and an upper mouth guard at night for grinding my teeth. It is soooo much plastic and I have a tiny mouth! Needless to say this puts a lot of pressure and stretching on your lips and mouth. Every morning I would wake up with actual splits in mostly my upper lip. This would be right down the center or the sides of my mouth which is super painful. It was absolutely horrible and would take days to heal. My dermatologist finally recommended this ointment to me as I was also having burning and horrible dryness on my lips on top of wearing dental appliances. I had tried every single natural, otc or other types of lip balm/chapstick! Nothing did the job. This vanicream ointment is absolutely hands down the only thing that has complete stopped all of my splitting,cracking, burning and dry lip problem. I do have to use it every night bc of my appliances but I don’t have to re apply throughout the day like I did with all the other products. It works very fast and heals quickly. I cannot say enough good things about this product. I usually apply it after I have brushed my teeth when my lips are damp. This helps lock in the moisture even more. It takes some getting used to the texture but after that you won’t want to use anything else. I wish they made this in a chapstick type tube! I’ve been using this product for several years without any problems. I hope this helps the next person.

My dermatologist recommended this to me after being at my wits end with severe eczema on my lips and around my mouth. I suffered in pain and embarrassment from what I call "clown mouth" for far too long before finding this stuff. I have to preface this review by stating that I use certified organic and/or 100% natural skincare, hair, and makeup.. except for this stuff. My lips were so bad that every lip balm I tried, natural and other brands such as Blistex, carmex, etc. did NOTHING for my lips. I've probably tried most every lip product out there in my lifetime. Sometimes a product would work for me for a couple of weeks, and then my lips would become immune to it. My lips would get dry and red/flaky all around my mouth and lips, and my lips would crack in the corners which would get so bad sometimes I couldn't open my mouth wide enough to eat. Besides looking hideous my lips would range from being uncomfortable to horribly painful all of the time. I've lived this way on and off since I was a child and I am now 26 years old. I've been using the Vaniply ointment for several months now, and have already reordered a 3-pack after purchasing a tube from my dermatologist. It keeps my lips soft and hydrated, and I only have to reapply 3-6 times a day. Which is huge for me personally because before I was putting on lip balm constantly because I was in so much discomfort. Every other lip balm I tried felt like it did not even penetrate my lips, which felt like PLASTIC. To be more clear, it felt like my lips were coated in a plastic barrier keeping and moisturizers from getting through and helping my lips heal. It was maddening! Within a day or two after I first started using this my lips were dramatically improved, and for the first time in a long time, that plastic feeling went away, and my lips were finally being nourished. I'm happy to report that I no longer have "clown mouth" flare ups, or cracked lips. For anyone who is discouraged and suffers from moderate to severe chapped lips/eczema you must give this a try. It was the only thing that has worked for me, I hope it works for you too.

My allergist recommended this product long back. It basically is FREE of everything that can cause a reaction. It lasts a long time. During the winter, with the dry heat, and after sweating from a workout - this really helps to keep my face from drying out and getting horribly red/inflamed. I like the small squeeze tubes, one at home/office/car. They last a LONG time. A little goes a long way. You do have to rub it in quite a bit so you don't appear 'shiny'. I continue to buy this product and totally prefer the ointment, like this.

I have dry skin issues most of the year, particularly involving my forearms. The problem creates "snowflakes" on the interior of my 2013 Nissan Altima and God only knows where else. I see my Dermatologist twice a year (or more) and she sends me home with a bag full of of sample-sized lotions to use on my arms. I found Vaniply Ointment took care of the issues very quickly and did not stain upholstery, etc., in my home or my car (very important). When the sample was gone, I shopped several local pharmacies for the product and none of them stocked, or for that matter had ever heard of this product. Target went one step further and were told by their supplier that they could not order it. So, as I have done any number of times, I turned to Amazon.com. The rest is history. The "snowfall" disappeared immediately and the healing, although temporary, continues, providing I don't forget to apply the ointment daily. (Has something to do with my being 80 later this year.)

Normally I don't write reviews but I had to share my experience with this product line to everyone that would listen. My son is 20 months and he's had eczema since he was about 3 months. I've tried everything from changing his soap, lotions, detergents. Nothing worked but the prescription hydrocortisone and I hated giving my son steroids all the time and as soon as it was done his skin would return back to being extradry and patchy. It killed me to see him dig in his skin all the time. It was to the point where I couldn't put shorts or shirtsleeves shirts on him. Went to a dermatologist more steroids something stronger once again it worked temporarily. I took my son to an allergist and he told me about Vanicream and Vaniply gave us a sample. I ordered it in the car on the way home from the doctor, long story short. My son skin is remarkable. It's moist and he doesn't rip his skin apart anymore. Because he skin seems to eat everything we mix the Vanicream with the vaniply and lotion him at least 2x a day.
