Modern Marimba
The Phlip Glass music pieces is quite beautiful, the other pieces are very interesting. The multichannel layer of the SACD is quite interesting, the computer generated sounds can be heard passing from a single channel to other. I think this is a new way to write and perform music, not only from the front. You can herad music an sounds in front, back, sides. Original piece of music. The recording is good, but not the best SACD I had heard.

High Concept Vibes
Good sound quality in keeping with the artists idea of an integrated piece. This cd demands serious listening to asimilate and enjoy. It takes some work, but its worth it.

I am not comfortable writing reviews. Just wanted to take a moment and thank Nathaniel Bartlett for recording -Precipice- It's been a while since I got this CD. There are some CDs that are like new toys... When you get over the newness you never play with them again. I find that I still reach for this SACD in the quiet hours.Opening is my favoriteThank you

Vermont Counterpoint(marimba version, Nathanniel Bartlett) [11: 20]この SACD を私の脆弱なスピーカ(TANNOY Stirling HW)で、大音量で聴くと全曲ノイズだらけ。1曲目「Opening」原曲はメロディアスなピアノ曲。2曲目「Precipice(2003)」は演奏者による委嘱作品。現代音楽っぽい。3曲目「Interlude(2005)」も委嘱作品。同上。4曲目「Silhouettes」は、オーガスタ・リード・トーマスという女性作曲家が書いたギター曲「ダイアログ」から2楽章、および「ピアノ・エチュード」の2曲が原曲である。私はこの作品が気に入った。5曲目「Vermont Counterpoint」は、加藤訓子も演奏しているライヒの作品(原曲は(それぞれ複数の)フルート、ピッコロ、アルト・フルートための)。加藤訓子よりソフトな演奏をしている(・・・というか、アプローチが違う)。Nathanniel Bartlett は Vermont Counterpoint を360度マルチ・チャンネル・サラウンドで聞くことを推奨しているようだ(リスナーはそのセンターに位置することができると言っている)。しかし、そんなオーディオ環境持ってる人、少ないでしょう・・・ホームシアター以外では・・・。
