South Shore Axess Desk with Keyboard Tray, Black

I've owned this desk since 2016! It's now 2026, that's a whole ten years! Great, sturdy desk that's lasted through daily long-term use. Very minimal chipping on the wood, mostly around the edges where my arms rest. One of the best purchases I've made on amazon. survived through a move, and I do think it will last me many more years. The only issue i had with it is they sent me incorrect parts for the sliding keyboard tray. It's been janky ever since i got it but i've made it work.

Awesome. Its very hard to find an affordable computer desk that isnt just a flat table these days. Package is pretty heavy, and if you live on a 2nd floor appt like me, you may need a hand to get it up the steps. Came on time, completely undamaged. Not even a scratch. I was worried based on some other reviews I read, but I guess I was lucky. The instructions are just pictures, but if you simply read them over once before starting assembly, and seperate pieces and parts accordingly, Its actually really easy. All my parts were labeled correctly, just double check everything step by step as you go, as some of the letters and numbers do look similar. You can do it yourself, but I'd highly suggest a second set of hands to help with holding piece in place as you attach them to one another in the first few steps. Funny enough, they even state to grab a friend, and put on music before beginning assembly haha. If you have a basic sense of 3D "front and back, left and right", and a screwdriver you are set. I would NOT suggest using a drill, as the connectors are designed to be inserted, and locked into place by location, not strength necessarily. All the holes were pre-drilled and lined up perfectly, and the kit came with exactly the parts, and color specified. If you dont double check the details in the instruction pictures, its easy to flip some parts around as they are not labeled front and back, as well as sizes of specific connector materials as they are the same type and color, with different diameters. So make sure you get it right the first time, as its a pain to attempt to re-do. [I had to re-do a piece of the top shelf, and it was tough to do w/o breaking the connector.] Took me and my roomate less than an hour to assemble. My half tower fits perfectly in the base, BUT without the open shelf. I had to remove it. I have the drawer above, then tower immediately below. A full tower would NOT fit, and a mini tower, or laptop would be fine. There are spaces built into the back of the desk for wiring which is really nice, and helps with airflow and cooling. The height is also very nice, as long as you have an adjustable computer chair. Its fits both of my 21in monitors on the top shelf beautifully, with the roll out keyboard shelf being a life saver. [only 1 monitor in pic, Im repairing the other currently.] Computer speakers get a little boost if placed between the main top piece of the desk, and shelving piece. If you need something affordable and functional, go for it. It can support at least 130 lbs of weight when assembled, as I have stood on it multiple times already to get to the ceiling above, and wall behind for decorating, so no worries of flimsyness or collapsing.

Price: Paid $79.99 plus free shipping. Ordering/Shipping: Ordered on 17APR11 and had this in my home by 25APR11 (using the "FREE with Super Saver Shipping" option). No hassles and arrived in a timely manner. Packaging: Arrived in a fairly large box weighing about 85 LBS or so. I'm 24 years old and had no issues moving this around the house myself, though not without a little effort. Basic styrofoam blocks separated the box and outside world from the building materials inside. Upon removing all the pieces, it became apparent that adding some sort of barrier in between the pieces themselves would have helped immensely. While a good majority of the pieces were intact and had little to no scratches or blemishes, the big important pieces did have some superficial damage that is pretty noticeable when fairly close to the desk. However, what with shipping it across the country, and for the price I paid.... This is hardly a complaint. Just being thorough. Missing Parts/Pieces: None. Everything that was listed in the instruction manual was given. Assembly: I assembled this desk in about 2 hours by myself. Extremely easy to build, with easy to understand instructions. The only reason why it took me so long is that I tend to read and re-read directions over and over to ensure that I get things right. (Bit of a perfectionist.) Naturally having a second person to help would turn that 2 hours into less than 45 minutes. The pieces all fit together and work properly with the exception of the drawer. Instead of sitting flush with the 'cabinet' that houses it, it's sunk in a little bit. Additionally there is about a 1/4 inch gap on either side of the drawer and sits a bit lopsided to the left. Looks a bit crappy, but it's whatever. I don't even use the drawer because I placed my tower in the aformentioned 'cabinet', and my computer case will not fit unless I remove the drawer. The only other problem I have is that the top 'shelf' portion on the main area of the desk does not bolt down. I would prefer this to make moving the desk easier, as you could use them for hand holds. Overall: I'm extremely happy with this purchase. Less than 100$ and I have an extremely sturdy, nice looking desk to house my computer. This fits my needs exactly. If you are looking for a high quality desk made of good material, I would suggest looking elsewhere. This desk apparently retails at around 350$, which is far and away completely over-priced. You would do better to spend that money on another desk of quality.

Es un escritorio cumplidor, con buenos materiales y muy buenos acabados. Es relativamente fácil de armar aunque las instrucciones solo vienen en inglés, asi que si no hablas el idioma quizá te cueste un poco más de trabajo. El costo de envío por otro lado es ALTISIMO pero quizá no encuentres en el mercado nacional algo de mejor calidad y de mejor relación beneficio costo.

Ummm solo el precio hay similares, a menor costo no obstante ya lo adquiri lo pago.

Great desk! Assembly was super easy with the instructions, some of the parts fit together kind of strange, like the bottom of the shelves have this small piece that doesnt fit right so it looks kinda strange but not bad enough to knock off a star, super sturdy! I have 2 monitors that sit up on the little shelf at the top of the desk making the desk space amazingly open up! The added storage with the drawer and the shelves below it make it amazing for storing stuff away that you dont need at hand right then and there. Behind the shelves there is a half piece of wood that you nail in that doesnt cover the full back so cords can be brought through so you can plug whatever you want in that might need power in the shelf area, thats a plus. For the price, and the build quality, this is definitely a great buy. Came with all the parts and extras if you misplace one or one wasnt included!

Received two days after purchase - quick delivery and the product was in (mostly) good shape save for a few scratches and a chip or two, luckily all but one was hidden once assembled. The table itself seems durable and sturdy once put together - save for the keyboard drawer, that was frustrating to say the least and should have had prebuilt holes to avoid the wood tearing (I don't think it's real wood / some sort of cheap material, screws crack and chip it easily). Outside of that, for the price you simply can't expect more, took my wife and I just over an hour to assemble and it looks fantastic. As you can see by the photo, I have quite a fair bit of gear, and it manages to fit on nicely, tucking away when I need it to. Ps it looks great beside my south shore tv stand of the same colour, I am hoping to get a small stand next.
