The larger lock is definitely big. Works well and is very loud.
We have had issues with people trying to get into our shed with a combo lock on it. Fortunately they haven't been successful. We decided to upgrade to this lock so that we could prevent them from trying to hack the combo. We bought the larger size and it just barely fits through the hole since it is large. The lock is heavy, feels sturdy and is fairly easy to use once you understand how it works. One beep for armed, and two quiet beeps for disarmed. I lock it and then just barely turn the key to hear the single beep, followed by a loud chirp. The battery is easily replaceable and is located inside the lock only accessibly when the lock is open. The product is shipped with a battery so you can see how to insert/replace. Definitely recommend this lock. It would also be great for motorcycles/bikes etc.

Beauty and brains??
The alarm is very loud. The lock itself is a lot larger than the photos lead me to believe it would be. Which is a good thing. It’s BIG and heavy, and is clearly well made. It’s a beautiful substantial product. I’m not sure how good at being a secure padlock it is but the alarm adds a degree of security beyond physical strength. It’s a steal for under $40. I’m very pleased with it.

Great value loud alarm lock
Great lock so far, it has been out in the rain as one of a few padlocks I have locking up my motorcycle. I don't trust the picking resistance so that's why it's not alone but it's very sensitive to touch any shake and it starts whaling a very very loud beeping that would definitely cause some attention. The one thing that could be upgraded is that the sound comes from a few holes in the body I could see a thief covering that with something like tape so the sound is dampened maybe if they put more holes that would stop that issue. Great Value!

It's simply another layer of security.
I feel like this is a good padlock. I use it to 'top off'the lockup of any of my ebikes. I make sure to affix it to my bike chain wheel as my lockup, last step.At appx 120db., it's loud and sensitive. Just what you need. But I think it works best as a third or fourth lock if, you're going to be away from your ebike in a high crime part of town.

HOW TO ACTIVATE THE LOCK
The instructions for activating the lock are TERRIBLE. After experimentation I have found that what works every time: SLIDE THE SHACKLE INTO THE HOLE TO LOCK THE DEVICE. Then, as you HOLD THE SHACKLE SO THAT IT WON'T POP BACK OUT OF THE LOCK, insert the key and turn it all the way to the right. The lock will try to pop open but WON'T AS YOU ARE RESTRAINING IT, turn the key carefully back to center position (it will make a slight beep sound) continue to turn the key all the way to the left and release the assembly. After a couple of seconds, the lock will make a loud beep, meaning it is ACTIVATED. I am very satisfied with the lock so far. If it is moved it makes 5 LOUD BEEPS in succession and GOES OFF with a LOUD alarm.

Not sure what to think yet-- some hits and misses
So it feels heavy and sturdy. It's a little bigger than I thought, but works fine for my application. One issue right away is that the instructions are incorrect about how to arm/disarm. They say to turn the key anti/counter-clockwise, but you in fact turn the key clockwise. This is the same direction you turn it to lock/unlock the shackle. So you can end up in a situation where the shackle is open and the alarm is armed, or you can lock the shackle and not have the alarm armed. You also *need* to use the key to arm the alarm; I would have preferred the alarm to arm automatically when you close the shackle, so you can just close the lock and walk away, having it armed. Instead you have to close the shackle, then insert and turn the key to arm (and not turning the key so far as to open the shackle). The siren is pretty loud, but it's also quite easy to just cover it with your hand and make it MUCH less loud. I'm sure it's a "good enough" deterrent, but someone could pretty easily work on the lock while muting the alarm (or even spraying something into the speaker to disable it).If it holds up to weather for a couple years, I think I'll be satisfied and will upgrade to 5 stars.Definitely NOT an unpickable/unbreakable type lock, but a more than adequate deterrent, especially for locking something in a relatively public place. Personally I wouldn't lock an expensive bike with this unless I'm going to be near it (coffee shop or something) or if it's in a small town or something. For NYC or an expensive bike, get a heavy duty lock and chain and also a cheap alarm.

rusts with 1 rain fall, stops working completely after 1 snow fall
DO NOT PURCHASE!!!! Worst product ive ever bought! The alarms is great, the lock is not. Such a piece of garbage.. surprised these even made it past quality control - I guess they are not tested for rain or snow? I ended up putting on a lock from 20 years ago that actually works.
