They taste Great! But I thought they were fillets, anyway they taste good and just have to split them to put them on a pizza to get them Flat

These are fabulous! Also, they ARE anchovies, but folks are getting them confused with the salted anchovy fillets that are used on caesar salads and pizzas. Some reviewers have commented that these are sardines - they do look like tinned sardines, but sardines are much larger. These anchovies are packed in water and are wonderful on top of a salad or in a sandwich. High in protein too! Yum!

I feel compelled to review these because I think they require an explanation. First, these are nothing like what we usually think of as anchovies. The usual canned/jarred anchovies are used as a flavoring to add umami to a dish. These are not for flavoring but for eating. The flavor is mild and very nice. The look a bit like headless sardines but i like the flavor of these better. Second, these are nothing like Spanish white anchovies (Boquerones) either. I *love* those, but these are not pickled like those, nor are they flexible fillets. These are closer to canned sardines, but with a milder flavor than sardines. I use them in sandwiches with red onion or sweet onion, lettuce and a touch of mayonnaise. They work in salad too.

Okay. These are whole anchovies. A bit dry. Not flat like used on a pizza. Not much taste.

These are larger than anchovies I am used to. And no where near as salty. Looks and tastes just like sardines. I was a bit nervous, about ordering them. That they would be too salty, and this is the first time I have ordered tinned fish in water/own juices. To be honest, these are great on salads, just like tuna. And, with the right dressing, I just dump the whole tin, fluids and meat, onto the salad. It really tastes much like tuna, but without the risk of higher mercury, and whatnot. Very good. I haven't tried them, technically, all on their own. But I did sample some of what I put on the salad separately. These taste just fine. I just don't trust "extra virgin olive oil" in tinned fish. And, that shouldn't be heated, anyway. Cold pressed is the only way to get the real stuff, so cooking it, with fish, in a tin, doesn't... seem like it would work out well. Very good.
