Nice replacement for my super old Welch Allyn otoscope
This 4th generation Doctor Mom LED pocket pro otoscope is nice quality, well made, and the perfect replacement for my super old Welch Allyn otoscope that I got from my step-grandma who used to work as a doctor. I'm an RN-BSN who likes to have their own medical equipment at home since I have kids and a husband, so I like to know what's wrong with them whenever they get sick in order to know if they really have to go to the doctor or not (really helps cut down on medical bills). My old Welch Allyn otoscope light was so dim despite changing the battery that I couldn't see anything, nor could I figure out how to change the light bulb in it due to not knowing the model or serial number. This otoscope was a cheap alternative that's just as good. It's super easy to use, you just need to install the included battery and turn it on. It has a warm white light that's the perfect brightness and works great for looking inside ears, whereas some newer otoscope have the super bright white light that's not very good for viewing ears. I absolutely love that it came with a hard shell storage box to keep the otoscope and specula's safe and contained. The otoscope feels comfortable in my hand and I'm able to look inside my kids ears with ease. The included ear chart is super helpful as well. Overall, I'm happy with this product and feel like it's worth the money based on the quality.

High quality otoscope for at home purposes
I bought this for my toddler who gets frequent ear infections and had ear tubes placed. This otoscope allows a clear view of the ear drum and I can see the tubes without difficulty. My toddler didn’t have any issues with pain/discomfort while checking his ears with this otoscope. Image is VERY clear and not blurry. The light is very helpful. Extremely easy to assemble. At the price point you can’t beat this high quality product to use at home!

Great product
Works great, just as expected. The light is bright and the lens is clear. Easy to use. It feels sturdy and the ear caps come in different sizes so it will fit both adult and children. It’s easy to store and to take from place to place. I love how the case has sections to keep everything secure and from moving around.

Awesome For Checking For Ear Infections, I've Included Helpful Tips for Using It as Well!
Since my 2 1/2 year old daughter keeps getting ear infections this cold season and I'm tired of paying co-pays for Dr. visits to check her ears when she's sick, I decided to try this out so I can check her ears for infection myself. I am very pleased with it! The otoscope comes in a thick black cardboard, foam-lined box to hold its contents secure and comes with some disposable specula tips and a photo guide of what normal, infected, perforated, and ears with tubes look like, which is very helpful for someone with no medical training. The otoscope is about 6 1/2" long and is made of very sturdy aluminum material and I like the textured center which provides a better grip on it while doing an ear exam. The on/off button is on the bottom of it and I like the large 1" diameter lens so you can get a large field of view of the ear. Another great feature is that you can use both large and small diameter disposable specula tips so that you can use it for children and adults. The white light is bright and lights up the inner ear well. I like that it uses disposable specula tips so that you don't have to worry about disinfecting or cleaning them. When you put on a new tip, you will need to twist clockwise until it locks in. It doesn't lock in as securely as I'd like and is still kind of wobbly, but it will stay on long enough to do the ear exam. One suggestion I have for the manufacturer is that they should include some helpful tips on doing a proper ear exam along with the provided photo guide. The first few times I used it, I thought I was looking at the ear drum but apparently I wasn't angling it properly so all I saw was ear wax. I learned the following helpful tips from my pediatrician on using the otoscope: *When doing an exam, hold the otoscope in the hand of the ear you are examining (ex: left ear, use left hand to hold otoscope) and hold it like a pencil between your index finger and thumb, resting the pinky finger on the person's cheek to steady your hand and if the person moves their head, the otoscope moves with it and won't stab the inner ear as the person moves. *If examining an adult, with your free hand, gently pull the ear upwards and back to get full view of the ear canal and in children, gently pull the ear downward and back. *Angle the otoscope towards their nose for the best view. This is the perfect product for at home ear exams, especially for kids with frequent ear infections. There have been times I've thought my daughter had an ear infection after a cold and using this, I was able to see that she didn't. Two times I've found that her ear was red inside and looked infected and when I took her in, the Dr. confirmed my findings. For the $45 price tag, this has saved me well more than this amount in potentially wasted co-pays so it's well worth it and very effective. Highly recommended!

Durable. Order more tips
Great product. Handy to have for any family with ear concerns. Huge learning curve to look in kids ears though. I do wish it came with more ear tips. I do not foresee it ever breaking on us.

An affordable otoscope that actually works!
I've tried a few different ear devices, many of which were the ear cleaner and camera combo that connects to your phone. The camera function is essentially useless on these devices and doesn't function as a reliable otoscope. This Dr. Mom otoscope removes the gimmicks and functions as a traditional otoscope that you'd find in a doctors office. It works great for viewing ears and throat. My only complaint is that the attachments can be a bit tricky to get on. I appreciate that they provide various size attachments though, making use easy for kids and adults. I used this on my daughter and she had no complaints with comfort. This is obviously a major plus considering I'll be primarily using it on her. Cleaning is also incredibly easy since the attachments can be removed. No worries about getting the actual device wet.

Excellent product
The build quality is great and it comes with many end caps for different size ears. This feels like a quality tool, and it also comes with reference photos of what inner ears look like which I found helpful. I used it and you can see pretty well with it, although it takes practice to use it right. But that would hold for any other similar scope since that has more to do with the user than the tool. This is an excellent tool and I’m amazed it can sell for so cheap (I paid only $30!). 10/10 would recommend.

works nicely
Works nicely and pictures show easily what to see of normal vs abnormal; as a retired physician, this is a simplified version of what I used my entire career, but it is more than adequate for a simple view in any household.

Good clear view and very useful for looking in my dog's ears although she's not very fond of it, she's always got her head down a hole in the allotment and gets covered in mud so suitable for making sure she doesn't have mud in her tab holes 😭

As a retired physician with 50 years of experience in examining patients' ears, I needed a replacement lightweight otoscope for use with family and friends. Previously, I've owned two Heine otoscope/ophthalmoscope sets and a Keeler Vista otoscope/ophthalmoscope set. I liked the Heine sets, but they eventually needed replacing after constant use. The Keeler Vista was fine, but it was quite heavy and you almost needed to take out a mortgage to buy replacement bulbs. I cannot speak highly enough concerning this Dr Mom otoscope. It is lightweight but has a quality feel to it and gives a superb view of the auditory canal and tympanic membrane. Also, it was excellent value for money so is fully deserving of a five-star review.

I bought this as my 18 month old daughter keeps getting ear infections and the otoscope allows me to keep a check on her ear. It is a very good quality piece of kit and very easy to use. It comes with a variety of nozzle(?) sizes so it can be used on adults too and the hard case means everything can be kept together and neatly stored away. An excellent product I would highly recommend.

I cannot live without this anymore. It gives me instant peace of mind that I can look into my 5 year old’s ears safely (after reading the instructions) and it allows me to rule ear infections out or know the cause of her discomfort. I wish I could use it on myself to check the health of my own ears. But as a mother checking her child this is a must have.
