Q: I am inquiring about the pioneer pet replacement filters, description says 5 x 2.5 but i measured the one i have is 4.5 x 2.25

Mine measures 4-1/2 x 2-3/8 for my Petlife plastic pet water fountain. I’m looking for replacement filters. The package they came in says they are 5 x 2.5, but I measured the filter myself to get above dimensions.

Q: Which way do these go (black side out, or towards the pump)? I have the raindrop fountain, and I lost the package for the filters.

The Drinkwell fountains explicitly state to place the black side toward the "Front" of the fountain. In other words, it would face the direction where the water drops from the spout and into the dish. However, I've used them for at least 3 years now and had a very close look at the design. There's absolutely no difference between the two sides. Both sides are identicle and the water will flow and be filtered regardless of which side you assign for the "Intake" or "Output". Now, if you remove the filter for some reason and plan to place it back in the unit, be sure the filter goes back in with the same side you intially assigned as the intake. If you were to place it back in the opposite way, the debris that had been filtered would be released into the drinking dish.

Defective

Well I needed the filters. When they arrived 2 were in good condition and one had broken and the charcoal was spilling in the bag. I did not want to return as I needed to use the ones that were in good condition and return and delivery of new ones will take time. So paid for 3 and received 2 that I can use. Plus there was a delivery charge for standard delivery. I have pictures of the defective product but I don’t see possibility for attachment.
