This watch is very sharp looking and seems to hold time about as well as any other budget mechanical clock. Then again, you don't buy a mechanical clock to keep perfect time if you know anything about timepieces. The finish is holding up quite well with my near-daily carry of this in my waistcoat pocket, and the chain doesn't worry me at all. My only concern with this unit is the latching mechanism that operates the front and back covers doesn't spring as well as I would like and it isn't as easy to open just the front cover. The problem is when you depress the release just enough to open the front cover only there seems to be a bit of binding in the spring mechanism that keeps the front from opening without enough force. This would be an issue if not for the fact that this is in every other way an excellent value item.

It is a great looking pocket watch. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to open and requires a lot of pressure to open. Will be returning it and hoping to get another that works properly. I contacted the seller who was most courteous and responsive with a response. The seller replaced the watch and did not require proof. The seller is honest and responsive to questions. I recommend this seller.

Star rating: my rating ignores durability because I have not owned this long enough to say, but the watch doesn't feel flimsy or look cheap. Astonishingly good value if it lasts (tip: winding at roughly the same time each day helps manual watches keep time & last). Package: came in presentation box with foam insert, inside an Amazon box. Accuracy: accurate over 24 hours & needs daily winding anyway. Appearance: shiny as if chromed but presumably just highly polished. Window (described as glass) felt plastic at first but both it and case back came covered in protective clear plastic film. Size: as described (approx 45mm diameter/15mm thick), which is smaller than some pocket watches but notrmal looking. Chain is perfect length to hook in third buttonhole up if watch is in a waistcoat pocket. Practicality: skeleton watches look nice but are harder to read (black minute/second hands are mostly, hour hand is entirely, over the mechanism not the surrounding white card). Not a problem, just a fact. Use tips: pushing winder centre in releases case front AND back. Holding one closed as you do so if you only want the other side to open is easy, though. Turn knurled ring to wind, pull it out to adjust time (push back in afterwards). Bonus: with front and back of case open watch stands upright and stable as a bedside clock. Wind up watches are really useful travel clocks because you're never caught out by a dead battery, & can just reset the time if you do forget to wind.

This timepiece, although on the face of it very good looking had a poorly designed dial. On unboxing I was initially pleased at what was a good looking piece of equipment for a small outlay. Unfortunately on further examination, there were only four minute divisions between each hour. Also, the device started and stopped intermittently. I alwYs try to be positive in my reviews although on this occasion I had to return the item.

I bought this for my stepson for his 30th birthday, he wears suits to do presentations and wanted a pocket watch that you could see the inner workings of. He loved it, it comes with a chain in a box and my husband wanted to get it engraved , the man at Timpsons suggested that he gets it engraved by hand as he was worried he would bend/dint the back. So we decided not to engrave to be on the safe side. It really is a lovely looking watch and good value for money.

this watch,i was constantly having to reset time as it kept losing time through the day,and not a few minutes but over the day at least 2 hours.

This is one of two pocket watches that were bought for me as early christmas presents! I've always wanted a pocket watch and this doesn't dissapoint, I'm delighted with it and the other one I got. Very good quality and beautiful detail, a steal at this price.
