I have an easy time reading anything by kevin griffin
I have an easy time reading anything by kevin griffin. he speaks clearly, intelligently and practically without arrogance. he suggests (without causing alarm) ways to apply the teachings of the dharma. he doesn't promise a rose garden and get's it across that life is really not about being happy. sometimes it is about learning how to live with ourselves and our shared humanity with the knowledge that all is not perfect in our world.

Wow
Ken Griffin's books speak with power and clarity on life in recovery without the Pollyanna unicorns and rainbows of so many addiction recovery books. He speaks on living with recovery as part of life but not the whole of life. I recommend his books to anyone who wants more than white-knuckled sobriety, more than simply replacing addiction to a substance or behavior with addiction to meetings. I see from him that there is so much more to being than just not using.

Moving Forward in Recovery
I greatly respect Kevin Griffin's work and contribution to the recovery community. I highly recommend his earlier books for anyone still figuring out how to find their path and get stable in recovery. This is a very practical book for moving beyond those first few years to building a rewarding life congruent with the values that support recovery. This would be a great book for a small study group.

His book for me points to the flaws in the recovery model that tend to "trudge the road to happy destiny' as AA says
Yet another evocative and thoughtful book from Kevin Griffin. His book for me points to the flaws in the recovery model that tend to "trudge the road to happy destiny' as AA says. There's little joy in that quote and the joy of recovery can be expressed in many wonderful ways.

Nice quick introduction to Buddhist approach to addiction recovery
One of my first books on the path of recovery. the theme of joy was the hook as the life crisis leading up to this moment is not joyous

Important Work
Mr Griffin always has something cogent to say. Each page may not speak to you or your situation directly but each page will give insights into recovery and Buddhist expositions. When you finish the book you ate richer for the process. Highly recommended following his early books especially One Breath at a Time.
