Human Resources Kit For Dummies

This is a good book to use as a refresher. It covers the essential information as well as the basic. I like to read books to remain current even though I have been doing the job for 20 plus years. The moment you think you know it all is the perfect time to get out because you have just become a liability to the organization. As a PhD I see so many so called experts that mess up other peoples lives so I do my best to stay aware of mistakes and changes so I don't repeat history.

I purchased this book because I was thrust into a position that required I interview applicants for a position. I needed some guidance on techniques, pitfalls, and advice in general, and I needed it ASAP! This book and the CD were truly beneficial. I found useful information and documents that helped me organize and prepare for the interviews. I will not claim to be an HR guru after reading this book, but I was definitely better prepared and the interviews were smooth and successful. I would recommend this book to anyone new to the many facets of HR responsibility. It gives very good basic information and gets your feet wet so you can wade further into the pool of HR information with confidence.

Great book and it comes with a CD (is that still a thing? I can't play it on my MAC so it's a bit of shame but let's be honest even if I could...would I?!)
