I had a few frogs years ago, but unfortunately with our move they got misplaced. I just purchased this one and love it! The weight is very good and I also like the idea that it can be separated. I would definitely recommend it produced.

As someone who has always loved ikebana floral arrangements, I thought I’d give this set a try and try ikebana for myself. Right away I could feel the quality of this set of kenzan (pin frog). - It is really well made with no bent pins or scratches in the base. - They are heavy (which they need to be hold larger floral/leaf stems). - The pins are arranged uniformly allowing you to easily put a plant stem anywhere in the holder. - The pins are sturdy meaning they will hold the placed stems in place, and they are made of brass and stainless steel and are coated (with no signs of chipping) meaning that these are rust proof allowing you to place them in water which is important as this ensures that the placed flowers and stems to last for several days or a couple of weeks depending on the species. - The rubber gasket provided perfectly fits and holds the set together. As well they ensure the kenzan doesn’t move around when placed in the vase/plate. Next up for me is to get some decent flowers and a decorative flat vase/plate to submerge the kenzan in. Overall I’d highly recommend these set if you are a ikebana expert or want to try ikebana as a new way to arrange decorative flowers.

I've never used one of these before, so I was very intrigued when I first saw it. I needed to test it out right away so I purchased a bouquet of flowers at the grocery store and placed this at the bottom of my vase. To my surprise, I was able to stick the flowers onto this to keep them in the position I wanted them to be in. I have never had such a perfectly placed bouquet of flowers before. I think it would be great for someone who enjoys having fresh flowers in their home all the time, and is a bit of a perfectionist in the way that they love their flowers perfectly positioned. It was not difficult to clean after about a week in there. I just ran clean water over it and used a brush to clean away as sludge. I did try to change the water out every day as well. I found the price to be a bit expensive but I believe they are handmade in Japan, so for being handmade, it is a good price.
